I received mine. It has 279 hours, so not too bad although more than I hoped for. I bought it through Walmart (sold by Beach Camera) and it's the Costco model. The stands were brand new, unused but the plastic caps on the VESA mount were missing, so someone probably had it on the wall.

I received mine - boxed up well with peel on the legs, but TV had a bent bezel / slight damage to panel (though at the edge, not the actually visible part). Only 20 hours panel time tho, TV otherwise works great.

Requested a return, but Beach Camera offered $150 to keep as is.

So question is if I should keep for $1050 (net after taxes, $975 if I count the Chase portal cashback) and live with the damage (maybe try to unbend the bezel and paint over where the paint was stripped, put Vaseline into the panel dings) or hold out for another deal.

Purplefinger offering new for $1399 all included, but I kind of like the A80CK remote.

Thoughts, and if Costco might drop the price soon now that A80L is appearing on the market? (Guessing A80CL soon as well.)

I'm seeing very significant black crush and extreme chrominance overshoot in dark scenes. I don't know if I was just unlucky with my panel or is this normal in this model. I mostly use 1080p SDR source. I checked the same scenes in A90J and both issues are way less prominent in A90J.

Turn off automatic brightness control and this should go away. I've had my 77 A80K set up right next to my LG 65 C1 and the Sony has much, much less black crush.

It's already off. I tried tweaking other settings and I never could get the darks to look as good as in A90J. Dark scenes in my A80K have stronger black crush, worse posterization, and worse chrominance overshoot. The source is streamed 1080p SDR, so admittedly not great quality but the same dark scenes look much better in A90J than in A80K.

The only thing that alleviated the black crush in my A80K was increasing black level to 59 but the resulting image still didn't look as good as in A90J. I'm using a light controlled room and minimum brightness on both TVs.

RTINGS shows the black crush score identical in both models. Perhaps I got a bad panel?

Perhaps a bad panel. I'd call Sony support and ask.
