Basketball shoes are usually wider around the ball of the foot. Material used is typically more durable which can make them a bit heavier than say a running shoe. Tread pattern can be an indicator as well.

The point was probably the lack of mid let alone high ankle support. This shoe is not designed for lateral movement at all.

This would be better advertised as a durable walking shoe.

There are many modern low-top basketball shoes. Kobe kinda started the movement.

You're condescending and not helpful. Care to elaborate on what constitutes a basketball shoe then?

Studies show that high top basketball shoes actually add no additional ankle support. Braces are what you're looking for. Source: avid indoor and outdoor basketball player.

Are you acquainted with peer-reviewed articles? To truly evaluate the validity of a study and its results, it's essential to read the article in its entirety. The initial citation focuses on intramural college basketball players, rendering the study less relevant for our discussion. A more fitting sample would be experienced basketball players participating at competitive levels. Regardless of the findings presented in any article, the difference in ankle stability between running shoes and basketball shoes is undeniable. Personal experience has taught me that it's much easier to roll an ankle while playing basketball in running shoes compared to basketball shoes.
