Because some organizations want to reward people who dedicate and sometimes risk their lives to keep you safe. Now if we could just figure out a way to implement an asshole tax and charge them more....

Thanks for posting. I'm looking for something dual purpose, work remotely (SWE) but some light gaming after work. Might be overkill for me on the gaming and not worth the weight. Appreciate any thoughts .

I'd prpbably go for a 14" then. They are a bit pricier but the size difference is noticeable.

When you say remote, I assume you're going to game in the same place so weight shouldn't matter much unless you have a non-remote job where you will be using your laptop in different places every day. 5 lbs isn't that heavy if you have a small shoulder bag or backpack with just essentials. Often neglected is the weight of the power brick which for dedicated Nvidia GPU laptops can be a pound itself. However you also have to consider if you use your laptop for any kind of entertainment and the larger screen and GPU will be nice to have

Military or First Responder ID.me takes down to $1080. I may bite on this since I have Lenovo rewards expiring next month.

How does the chassis of the regular 5 compare to the pro? Seems like a good deal on 3070 ti, wish screen was brighter but overall solid package

Thanks for the reply. Yeah. Just a laptop for when I go visit in laws or work out of wework. I guess if the battery >3 hours, probably can leave the power pack at home. I've never thought too much GPU was a bad thing!

Quick follow up question for poster. I saw in the description here this is 720p webcam, but in the marketing copy they have :

Stealthy & sleek. Gaming chic.

The aluminum and magnesium chassis in Storm Grey feels like it looks—slim and sleek. The Legion 5 Gen 7 is 15% thinner than the previous generation, packing powerful performance in a mobile package. A zero-bump hinge and IO notch prevents snags or broken connectors. With a minimalized logo, trimmings, and discrete webcam e-shutter switch with a paired 1080p webcam, there's something for everyone.

Is that a conflict or does it state the 720p somewhere more definitive?

Lol, sure. 3080Ti Legion is $2500. And that's already after a $1000 discount. It's not gonna get anywhere near this price ever.
