I'm a sucker for Kreg items on sale, been wanting to start woodworking right before the pandemic and wood prices skyrocketing. I haven't even started a single project and all I'm doing is hoarding tools. In for one.

I think T squares are fast and portable, but the idea here is repeatable cuts with a surface to cut on. When I use T squares, I usually have a saw horse or some dedicated work space like a bench or truck bed. I think this can be pretty handy for homeowners.

I am struggling to see a point to this. I think Kreg is as well and will soon discontinue this after wholesaling them out. Anyone that would need this probably already has a table saw, a simple mitre box with a handsaw, or a power miter saw making this useless. And no woodworker I know would ever use a skill saw to make cuts like this.

I have one of the Johnson T-Squares that is 48" long. It is used mostly for plywood or 4x8 sheet wood. For long cuts I can just clamp that to a board and run the saw down it. How is this Kreg item any better? For small cuts, I would use my miter saw.

I've seen lots of videos where woodworkers will just use plywood and spare 2x4 boards nailed together to act as guides.
Big weekend warrior and love working with wood in particular. I can back this up with experience both with "easy items" like this and simple DIY jigs. All in all they both wind up taking similar time and offer similar benefits. Just kind of depends on you're comfort level and the task at hand.

I think this is for the new or low diy who doesnt own miter or need convinence.

I bought it on last sale and returning. Got the ryobi miter saw, so this would be waste for my needs.

I've been doing woodworking and molding cuts for years and have never used one of these. I've even used the long paint sticks to make guides.

this requires a perfectly straight edge of the board you want to cut as reference. I like Accu-Cut better as alternative to table saw. but they're not cheap.

I have 12" mitter saw which I think does the same thing (or more) as this. Someone please correct me if there is a need for me to buy this. It seems this is good for people who has circular saw only. But I would prefer to get circular saw track (more expensive) but to cover much more length than just 12".

For $20 I think it will be worth it. I don't have a permanent mitre station in my measly two car garage, so I have to move several things around to get my mitre saw out. I hate getting it out just to make one or two cuts for something, and then having to put everything back. This will come in handy for those situations.

miter saw is all you need, this is good for people who dont want to lug around a miter saw to do a quick job

Heres one.....but...entirely up to you.

Kreg is made in China (naturally). So are Brother sewing machines, and I snapped one up from here for a mega discount. It didn't have the Brother name shown in the pic but when it arrived it was in a Brother box and had all the logos on the item.
