Is this a significant upgrade over the monoprice joule? I think it's essentially a clone of this printer.

Other than a few very minor differences, they are essentially the same.

edit: I picked up this deal a couple weeks ago.

Thanks. I paid net $50 for the joule, great results so far, will stick with it.

Big improvement over the pro. I would say more nice things, but looks like they still have the plastic extruded arm that is very prone to failure and needing a replacement. Bed leveling is also a really nice quality of life feature that's missing, but isn't that big of a deal.

Cura and Prusa Slicer have good support for these printers.

I have this printer, it's a good basic 3d printer, but expect to have to make a lot of tweaks and adjustments to get it to work smoothly. I had to buy a new build plate right away because the one it with had some warping. Then also bought a CR touch to do auto leveling. Also, small things should be upgraded like the bed springs, and then some fans, I upgraded the power supply fan to a noctua fan and that reduced noise a lot.

Bed leveling has gotten much easier if you update to a third party "Professional" firmware.

Also you can use klipper, through a raspberry pi or similar device, but on the Ender 3 V2 the display isn't supported, so you'd have to just use the web interface or buy a separate display.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I got this during the last deal offering. Well worth it. I used this thing all the time and developed a love for 3D printing.
If you're already a microcenter member, use a friend's number or a relative. The coupon arrives via text. I had them forward the text to me and used it that way. The cashiers don't check to confirm if you're an existing member or not, they just scan

for $50 I'd jump into the world of 3D Printing - was there some crazy deal going on at some point?

this is not true regarding tweaks out the box. it prints perfect out the box if you know what you are doing. i sell prints online and have a few e3 pros and other more expensive printers.

this does require more tinkering AFTER you use it a good few hours. but out the box, if you can't get a smooth print, i guarantee its user error or bad copy.. took a normal amount of time to calibrate with paper.

i have the cr touch on the s1 printer and theres no difference...its not auto leveling.

reasons to buy an ender are the endless amount of support, mods, and community.

after 2 years i am getting rid of these because the maintenance time adds up compared to next gen printers like the bambu.

btw this. deal came out over 2 years ago. a better value is the recent s1 deal for $200 that may still be active.

I was going to get the s1 deal. Besides being cheaper why is this better?

I bought it from Monoprice for $80 when they were clearing them out. One of the belts snapped while following the instructions to put it together so they refunded me $30.
