Haven't had any issues like that. The most I've made at once was around 8 in the 16. I've found the key to the gas powered one is full flame in between pizzas to keep the temp high but when you put one in, you lower to half heat for the minute or two or takes. Then back to full heat before the next one goes in.

If you're willing to take the time to make your own dough and practice a bit, these things make incredible pizza. I would say it took me 3 bakes to get it right. definitely destroyed at least 2-3 pizzas learning, but once you learn the little tricks and how to launch without sticking, it's amazing.

Im dying to get one… have you ever made a lot of pizza back to back? I'm wondering if the stone at the bottom accumulates heat, getting too hot eventually.

Can you elaborate what the 16 gives you more than the 12?

Most optimal is letting it acclimate about 3-5 minutes in between cooks assuming you maintain 700-800F. I found the Costco Kingsford Competition Grade Briquettes pretty economical. They can get it past 1000F on the stone if you overload it too much, regular Kingsford can only get to 500F. If you want a wood smoke smell, just toss a small chunk in before cooking for smoke.

I'm thinking that as good a sign as any to pull the trigger.
