Ryzen deal would be nice. I have the twelfth gen i5 and it does get loud from time to time. Ryzen just feels so much cooler and snappier in real life although benchmarks may give slight edge to Intel.

I know that on their Thinkpad line, they use dual heat pipes for their AMD variants and only single heat pipes on their Intel variants

How close is this to MacBook Air in build quality? I'm looking for a Windows Alternative to an M1 air, but I just want it to "feel" like apple quality.

I bought one for use as a business laptop. The screen is the big attraction here, looks to be better than the average at this price point. The processor seems pretty decent per notebook check's ranking. Equivalent to my old engineering precision 7560 workstation in single core: 240.5 (i5-1340p) vs 232.5 (i7 11850-H) (Cinebench R15) and multicore 1756.4 (i5-1340p) vs 1767.5 (i7 11180-H). Equivalent in geekbench as well.

Looking forward to being able to charge this on a plane. The old laptop required more watts than a plane A/C outlet could output. This one has 65W Power delivery power adapter (20V at 3.5A) so will be able to use a combo brick when traveling as well.

Is it just me or does the top of the display stick out? I'm assuming it's the cam? I imagine this would be a deal breaker for some.

it sticks out. i have a tilted laptop stand with a curved front to keep the laptop from sliding off. it hits the top of the laptop, so i have to buffer it a bit. not really a dealbreaker for me though

can't lift the screen without holding the base down, otherwise very close. laptop reviewers seem to use that as some sort of benchmark, so i guess people care about that. otherwise, great looking screen, good feeling keyboard/trackpad, very responsive fingerprint reader, cover is a bit prone to scratches. the build quality and quality control is fine imho. i'd say it can measure up to apple quality in tactile experience
