How much bloatware typically comes on these? Torn between this or the HP Pavilion Plus 14" with similar specs (i5-13500H, 2880x1800 OLED) for $75 less than this deal (or with a 2.2k IPS for $150 less)...but reviews seem to indicate the battery and bloatware on the HP are pretty bad.

This model does not come with an OLED display. I'm more concerned over hinge quality. This laptops looks equivalent to Dell's Inspiron line.

pretty minimal. lenovo vantage (some useful settings in there, i don't consider it bloat), lenovo welcome (bloat), and the rest are standard to W11 installs. nothing compared to the amount of crap hp puts on their computers. it's like they think their main demographic is octagenarians that never learned how to install programs/apps, so they better put mcafee and candy crush on there for them.

A few days ago bought this very similar Lenovo from Costco for $13 more (800). Is it worth the hassle to return and buy this one or are the specs practically the same? I see the Lenovo website processor is 13th Gen vs Costco 12th Gen, memory is 5200hz vs 4800 hz, but for regular internet browsing, word, and YouTube hard to imagine any real difference?

given your use case, i would say return it, but not to buy this one. there have been plenty of deals on lenovo laptops lately. the ideapad 5 (refurbished, but i got 2 and they look like new) with 1215u (i3)/1235u (i5)/1255u (i7) cpu's would all be capable of handling that usage, and have comparable build quality. if you need more than 1 thunderbolt 4 port, then that rules out the ideapad. then consider the slim/yoga. performance difference between between the 1255u and 1260p are marginal, and even the 1255u is overkill for your usage.
