As for the build above, it's a good deal. Processor and GPU is around 500 alone and it comes with a warranty. Most people like convenience.

For $100 more, Costco has the AMD Ryzen version on sale. Intel version is not at present on sale, might on sale next though. Generally seems Intel benchmark wise is mostly higher than Ryzen by a good margin

I noticed device manager thinks I have something installed but it cannot identify it nor use the right drivers for it; I can't determine what isn't working.
Is there room inside to easily add another sata drive? I've got a 500gb sod from my last computer I want to use (I should update the nvme to 1tb+ instead) and I'd really prefer to just not use the hdd.
ie what I would love to build this weekend:
ryzen 5600g $170 + b550 $90 + 32gb ddr4 $60+fractal atx case $60+600w psu G+ $60+1tb nvme ssd $40
that's $480+tax, etc.
W11 you can migrant from a current install tied to your account, or there are plenty of ways to get a copy inexpensively.
this build above has no 3060 but another rig could easily be specced for it, and I would recommend the amd cards. I want this rig because I want a low power machine that is chiefly work but can play during breaks and is low power/noise.

It's not for everyone, sure, but if one is debating trying to do it or not, I'm just pointing out that it's a great and surprisingly easy path to take with lots of ancillary benefits.
I like Lenovo more than other big prebuilt manufacturers (Dell, HP), but I must admit that their preloaded OS comes with a lot of bloatware installed. You might even get a slight performance boost from having a clean version of the OS installed without all the garbage software weighing it down.

Might not be an issue for someone who enjoys building them but the only reason I'd build my own would be to save money

Also, no one wants to migrate Windows for another install unless you are scraping the computer, cannibalizing it, or selling it off for parts. I would assume most people are going to repurpose the old PC or sell it off complete. So no one is comparing an entire new PC to a partial build. But that was a great life hack for saving money....only 'building' half of a machine in pretendland.
