The 1984 edition doesn't let you cook falafel and teriyaki at the same time, since Eurasia is at war with East Asia.
I'd get the Walmart deal over this.

We are a family of four and I have been wanting one of these because right now I am oven cooking bacon (which is good, but takes a long time to do right), and then just throwing eggs in a cast iron pan.

We have a gas stove, and it has a middle burned with a cast iron (but small) griddle. I just want a griddle big enough to cook ~10 pieces of bacon, eggs, maybe some diced potatoes and that, and I thought this was a good approach. But when you call out it's more for parties, I also don't need something that is going to be such overkill that I am wasting fuel because I am not using the full potential.

With that in mind, is there a better middle ground option that you (or anyone) can recommend that is a larger flat top unit, but not a party size one?

Thanks!
I'm hesitant to recommend this, the 28" or anything else really, as I do not know your full circumstances.

This is an outdoor, deck or garage griddle, it should not be used indoors, and from what you are saying, you are just looking for something to do a nice breakfast in the mornings for the fam. If you don't have a problem going outside to use it and can afford it, get it, though the 28" might "fit" your needs better. If you do not want to go outside, there are other options....griddle pans that lay across multiple burners, stand alone electric griddles and more. I personally do not use griddles/flattops at home.

Sorry I'm not much help, but people on this forum have "a way" of being @h0oles for no reason, better to protect oneself then open the door for flames.

You know your budget, the size you need and how you want to use it. Asking for suggestions is great, but You should do a bit more research to help you consider alternative options.

Cheers,

Thanks, I ended up ordering a "Steelmade" griddle for our existing gas oven. Reviews are good, and since we have a 5 burner top hopefully will be good for the use case of breakfast and some other flat top meals. Plus it will be better for year-round use.

But yeah, the 28" might be a better move if I eventually find I want to move the cooking outside.

Thanks again!

Why is this front page but the Walmart one that comes with a hood for the same price is not?

Sam's has the "Members Mark" version right now for $229..

I'm debating whether the BlackStone name is worth $55 more?

The Members mark one blows the Blackstone away. Stainless panels AND a cover is included. Blackstone is like Yeti.... Taking people to the cleaners...

I have the Steel made.. thought it was a good idea at the time but it's large, heavy and inconvenient to move if you want to use the stove for other things. Which happens quite often.

I've never understood what's so great about owning a griddle? At the school I work at, they use one to cook breakfast and burgers for kids at events, but I don't understand why I'd buy it for home use? Maybe if you really like hibachi? I don't know. I'd rather just own a grill.
They are fun to use and versatile when you want to cook for lots of people. Also, bacon smashburgers.

First of all the build quality is better. The Griddle it's made from rolled steel not press steel so it won't warp and bend as easy. You can actually put large pots of water and it, won't Bend. plus it's made in the United States of America. Walmart is China junk.

Blackstone are designed and engineered in US, but actual manufacturing is in China. So, there's that.

I know a guy who got the Members Mark griddle last week. When opening the box to assemble, the stainless part of one of the burners was beat up and dented and the gas tubes were mangled. So he returned it and got the Blackstone from Tractor Supply. He said the Blackstone build quality was much better and the actual griddle was much more solid and heavy.
