I have 2 15" cerwin Vega 3 way speakers in a 5 speaker surround no subwoofer setup. Yamaha rx-a770. The setup roars with explosions. Am I missing something by not having a dedicated subwoofer and acoustical fronts
Old school?

Why buy this instead of Klipsch
Instead of the down votes, can someone tell if it is worth 2x price of reference premier from Klipsch

These are on a different level than the Klipsch RP. This is more similar to the Klipsch RF-7 III that go for $2200 each or $4400 for a pair.

That's what I told myself when I grabbed the ML Motion 15i instead of the 35XTi (in truth I had already bought some KEF LS50s and couldn't justify the extra $300). When there's a great sale on, I'm almost always in favor of getting as much as you can afford/make room for. That goes for most non-depreciating enthusiast goods, though.

As a former retail employee with the best hi-fi purchase incentives: only the used market beats the rare 50-60% off MSRP. It has been a wild month for speakers.
I agree. Wish I had space for them. They would be pressed against the wall with my setup

Loud and fine detail aren't the same thing. It's like chugging a 4 loco vs having a hand crafted cocktail. I'm not knocking you I'm just trying to clarify. But as far as a subwoofer having one is good 2 is miles better .

Check accessories4less, same price brand new. Full kef warranty, but you'll have to pay tax.

Yes, your bass is focused around 40 to 50Hz. You'd be surprised what adding a dedicated subwoofer would do to the low end. Something with 18-30Hz would make movies come alive.

I believe they are. Only Reference series and Blades and Muon are made at KEF's UK factory.

As the owner of some very nice speakers of comparable quality and previous owner of multiple cheaper and much cheaper sets, I don't really find it that necessary to spend that much money on speakers that will be powered by an AV receiver l and using some type of room correction. However, if you're into music listening, these and a good stereo amp would most likely be a bliss.

I'll try my best. I own multiple models of both kef and klipsch speakers including the RP series. Ultimately, what's worth it to you is going to come down to personal preference. Outright, these speakers are going to have a decently greater amount of clarity to them over complex passages in use. Their signature will be much flatter and that could be either good or bad depending on what you like. Klipsch will have a tint of a warm engaging live sound while kef will steer towards a neutral more transparent studio sound. Of note though, if you are running these thorough a cheap AV reciever the kefs may lose some of their appeal, that clarity thing may work against you.

Personally, I've learned to be honest with what I am looking for in my sound signature and not let cost determine what sounds good. If you like klipsch, I would stick with it until you can demo a pair of whatever else you are looking at and see if you prefer it and the associated sound signature more. Klipsch has a pretty unique house sound that some people prefer.
