I can't remember how much I paid for it, but this is a great grill. I've had it for two years now with no problems.

The porcelain coated grates on these suck. One summer using a proper brush for cleaning them and it was chipped and rusted. Char Broil sent me a new set for only shipping cost, like $6, but I believe this will be a yearly problem with this dam thing. I could not have treated it any better.

Wait for a deal that's not porcelain coated unless you only need this thing for a year.

This does not have the anti flare up burner covers, does it? Grease falls directly onto burners.

This model lasted me four seasons. So value is 2x! The body didn't wear out but the burners themselves disintegrated.

As long as you don't expect to have these for years then go for it. I can tell you that I have one and it has rusted even with a cover.

- The burners lost connectivity between each other after the 3rd year of use. I have to light each burner individually.
- Cast Iron grates have rusted with their coating. I assume this was from the wire brush.
- The drip pan does not funnel the fat into the collection tray very well. if you don't keep on top of cleaning it regularly you will end up with a massive fire. This has happened to me a couple of times.
- Ignition switch stopped working after a year
- Temp gauge seems to get water into it. I take it off now after using the grill as they cost around $10 each

I have to replace the burners and cast iron plates with stainless steel ones off of Amazon.

I had an older Charbroil Grill from the late 90s. They may not have been stainless steel but were built better. Never had a fire with that one.

Yep I just posted my issues with mine. Same thing. I'll be getting aftermarket stainless ones off of Amazon.

I use my Webber Kettle more over the Charbroil and it uses stainless steel. Haven't had any issues with it yet after 5+ years.

Just a heads up, make sure you dont have to buy a $100 conversion kit to take on natural gas.

I just noticed my grates all rusted over. Which ones from Amazon did you get to replace by chance?

I haven't purchased them yet but maybe something like this. Verify your model number to be sure it'll fit.

Thanks for that. Was looking at the same ones! I just need to go out and measure. Shame that they rust out within 8-9 months Frown

Agreed.

Had mine for about 4-5 years. It's on its last limb.

+1 to everything here. To add. After about 4 years, replacing the burners and vaporizer bars, and propane hose (~$50 total), the fire box on the bottom has completely rusted out and is now straight up dripping onto my back patio.

Strongly suggest to do regular (more than 1x per year) deep cleans on the fire box to try to help prevent this.

I had a similar grill a few years ago with the same issue. Grates basically crumbled. Fortunately, at the time I was working at a shop with a cnc laser. I made some high end 1/4 thick stainless grates patterned off of something I found online on a $15k grill. Loved those. Moved and gave it away. Buying another grill again and I can promise, I'm highly likely to spend $200 having grates made for a $200 grill. Worth it.

Got tired of spending ~$200 on these types of grills and replacing every 2 years. Did it for 10+ years. Then, I got a 3 burner Weber and it's going strong for the last five years and looks to have at least another five in it. They aren't cheap but in the long run they pay out. JMHO.
