Personally, I avoid anything under 300 nits. I think the difference between 250 and 300 will be readily apparent and you'll think that the 300 nits monitor "looks better." But it matters where you're using the monitor (dark room/bright room) or what you're doing with it (e.g. photographers might choose a lower brightness, so as to properly preview what a print will look like).

I've had a 250 nits monitor that I thought was too dim. I currently have a 400 nits monitor that I think is a bit too bright (I just turn down the brightness in the settings). 300-350 is probably the sweet-spot. Keep in mind that you can always make a bright monitor dimmer, but you can't make a dim monitor brighter.

According to the Acer website, this is a 400 nits brightness with HDR 400 if that helps anyone.

I don't have a problem with the 2000 nit pro max display. That way I can take this thing outside

Biggest difference I see there is HDR. So, if you have HDR content or games that support HDR, that's a big plus. But many people wouldn't use HDR at all, honestly. Up to you, I like my HDR monitor.

Unpopular opinion but I prefer VA panel over IPS because they have nicer colors. Also this deal in particular is a curved monitor so I don't think viewing angles would be bad in this even if its VA.

I bought this monitor for $250 about a year ago. It is a solid monitor but I had a lot of ghosting until I turned on a setting called "overdrive". I play games on it without any issues. Let me know if you have any questions
