$350 for the 7700x at Microcenter was a price mistake. Forget that existed (I have had to since I didn't get in on the deal).

Of course, there is still the $450 7700x deal ongoing at MC, BUT you have to live near an MC to get the deal....and a lot of people (myself included) do not.

FWIW, there are currently THREE combos at this price. Same mobo, but different RAM. I suspect this is the highest rated ram though (and EXPO at that).

The mobo leave much to be desired, but likely had a lot of issues up front. Perhaps they are mostly worked out at this point?

Seems like a nice setup.

You need to buy a cooler though as the 7600x doesn't come with one.

Easy to justify if the nearest Microcenter is an 8 hour drive away... one way. Just saying the "but microcenter..." excuse falls flat when they dont ship these deals. Not like a Newegg is near me either but I can get this from them (if I wanted it)

I got the ATX version of this Mobo, updated the bios and ran EXPO and it ran fine. I had done a stability test and also let it run mem test to make sure things were in order.

I know it's a little bit older, but I think this is a better deal:
Intel 12700k bundle. The CPU is slightly faster (at least for gaming), the motherboard is nicer (ATX vs mATX). The only downside would be increased power dissipation of the Intel.

It's a much worse deal if you pay for your electricity and consider energy costs over time of ownership. This can amount to a lot more.

Assuming $0.10/kWh and a 20 W power difference [tomshardware.com] and 4 hours of use per day, you'll burn 29.2 kW more per year with the 12700K, which will cost you $2.92/year. Over the course of 5 years, you'll spend $15 more...

If you live somewhere where power is more really expensive (e.g. California or Europe) or if you're spending 24 hours a day doing CPU-intensive tasks, then the calculations change.

Yup. People only look at peak power, for workloads that use 100% of the threads, which no game comes close to doing, and most consumers never even use and then mistake it as normal power usage.

The reality is most consumers play games for like 1 hour a day averaged, which only uses like 100w for the CPU then spend several hours doing less intensive stuff like web browsing, emails, watching videos, etc and CPU power consumption drops to 10w-30w depending on what yorue doing.

Can you link to the MC deals you are referring to? I don't see them.

I got these brand and model and kit of memories (I'm trying to say the same, but even "same" ram sticks are different), and within 100 days they started having issues. Ran memtest and over 10,000 memory errors. Be very vigilant and check it regularly while you have the option to return it etc.
