I ended up ordering the CRG9 for $688 (-12% cashback) through a SlickDeal in November. It's primarily for work (documents, spreadsheets, research, etc.), but it also allows me to have an immersive gaming environment in my downtime. I would have loved to have gotten the Neo G9 for future-proofing, but I couldn't justify the expense. I needed to replace multiple monitors and the CRG9 was better suited for that than a normal 21:9 ultrawide would have been. My particular use case involves sharing via MS Teams and making use of PBP on my work machine to avoid having to install FancyZones or Samsung's Easy Settings Box. On my personal machine, I can easily use such software and I don't do screensharing, anyway.

The CRG9 replaced my 3 old 1080p monitors, entirely removed the bezels, and provides much better framerates and resolution than my previous setup. RTINGS gave it a 7.6/10 overall: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...49rg9-crg9

The CRG9 can do Picture-by-Picture (PBP), which is how I normally use it for my work machine. It has 2x DisplayPort 1.4 inputs and 1x HDMI 2.0 input. You can set up PBP in any combination of 2 of those 3 total inputs using just the monitor's menus, and you can split the screen into two equal 16:9 portions or one 21:9 and one 11:9.

The CRG9 has been below $750 a few times within the past few months. It's nice (120 Hz, 1800R curve, but bad local dimming) and it can replace 2-3 monitors.

The Odyssey G9 (240 Hz, 1000R curve, essentially the same bad local dimming as the CRG9) has occasionally been on sale for $700-$850, but is currently $945. The Odyssey Neo G9 (240 Hz, 1000R curve, mini-LED) has occasionally been on sale for $1151-$1200, but is currently $1440.

I remember back ~20 years ago, lots of games didn't support widescreen (e.g. 1080p) monitors natively. Often there were fan-made patches that existed, but the experience wasn't always perfect. I'm guessing that there was a similar breakpoint for ultra-widescreen resolutions like this one. Do pretty much all games in the last ten years support these resolutions natively? Where's that breakpoint?
