The Epson will have slightly better color and black levels from what I can tell, but thats about it. The Epson because of how it creates 4K does not have a full 4K resolution so the image will be not as crisp as compared to the Viewsonic. Also the Epson has worse input lag, since the fastest option it has is 18ms which is far slower than the 4ms of the ViewSonic. So for gaming the ViewSonic is already a better choice. The other major difference is the Viewsonic is more of a short throw projector able to produce a larger image at far shorter distances, the Epson is a traditional long throw so it will have to be way further back to get the same size image.

For the price this would be a great projector for just about anyone, unfortunately for me and probably a few others the lack of 3-D is a deal breaker so a pass for me.
Also just a head up for projector newbies. This does not have any vertical or horizontal lens shift. It does have a little optical zoom. Meaning you will need to mount it horizontally dead center of the screen and at a specific height. The zoom will allow you to have a little bit of freedom on how far away from the screen you mount it (not very much). You can use vertical and horizontal keystone correction but that degrades the image quality.

Same. I have this projector and the picture and brightness are incredible. For the price, you can't beat it.

Wai... I've had my eye on this projector for a while... I was sure that it supported 3D.... going to tripple check now.

ViewSonic has gotten worse with their documentation, but I am pretty sure its a standard 1 year warranty.

It has 3d. I'm literally looking at the 3d output options menu in the settings right now.

Now I haven't used it, I'm surprised that it's a concern to people.... Didn't know anyone was even doing 3d these days... Thought that fad went out a decade ago.

At any rate, I use it like most people would, Xbox/movies/shows on 120" screen... If you have the space and the light control... For around 1k for the projector and adecent 120" screen, you will not be disappointed.

Would this be suitable for outdoor viewing? Thinking under the covered pergola, with or without curtains.

New Avatar movie is out, definitely going to be some people interested in the 3D features..

"Light Control" is my issue as I'd like to use it in my main living room. Can you comment on image clarity in a room with moderate sunlight? Also, do you happen to know the minimum distance away you need for a 120" image?

I have the 748 version. Couldn't get 3D to work on that one and they even said it supported it. Turns out I had to send it in for a firmware update. Got it back and 3D still didn't work.

Just FYI, 240hz is only at 1080p as far as I can tell. This projector uses pixel shifting to reach 4k so the color wheel needs to spin 4 times to hit 4k. Latency is also higher at 4k because of this. Not saying this is bad, just a notable difference, especially because 1080p vs 4k matters at common projector screen sizes.

I'd love for someone to verify this supports 3D. There is lots of conflicting information about this online (some saying there has been firmware and/or hardware changes in later production runs to add support). I think it might online support Frame Sequential 3D so you will need active glasses.

fudge... I just bought it. I looked at the reviews and a couple people mentioned that it did indeed have 3D support after a firmware upgrade. I def need a new projector... is there any compareable projector with 3D at this price point... or under $1k? Built in airplay would be a plus

does anyone have the 4000 lumen version? I have a 3200 lumen Optima, while it's bright enough starting at dusk, it's totally unuseable during the day (I do not have a light controlled room)
