BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBD2 Car Diagnostic Scan Tool and Check Engine Light Code Reader for iPhone and Android $85. [amazon.com]

It is usually $120. If you can wait it was $69 on black friday last year.YMMV

Their customer support is great. When they made their last upgrade that was incompatible with my older fire tablet. they made it so it would work with legacy software. I didn't have to buy a newer version of the fire tablet. Of course you can put it on your phone but my old eyes love the 10 inch tablet when troubleshooting.

This one gives you more informations. Certain "b", "c", abs codes a 10 scanner will not give you and this one does. It's worth the money imo.

I was thinking the same things, looks like a few more systems (tpms) likely popular and different. The reviews are pretty impressive. Also I think the software and as someone mentioned the support. I have a giant cheapo scanner and I'm gonna upgrade. Thank OP.

The cheap no-name offshore ones can kill a car's computer:

This thing is excellent and provides all the info that most folks will need.

I have this & love it. Puts stuff into plain English & has saved me a ton of $$$. Highly recommend, so does Scotty Kilmer if that matters to you.

It's not going to do with the 5k scanners do, but is far superior to the $10 ones.

I have this Blue Driver and I have used the $10 and $35 scanners. The main difference is the software for the Blue Driver is leagues better and there are no subscription fees. With some of the cheaper $10 scanners you have to install several apps before you get one that will work with your car, and when you finally get it working it only gives you the PO codes and literally nothing else, forcing you to get on google and look up probable causes. My $35 scanner has on going subscription fees and terrible user interface, it's basically ewaste!

The Blue Driver has connected to every car I've tried and not only does it give you the PO codes but will also give you the most likely problem and a link to amazon to buy the part. Now obviously the likely problem isn't always the real problem but it is extremely helpful and getting a link to the part is super helpful when I'm trying to find the part in the engine bay.

I bought this Blue Driver a few years ago for $100 bucks, and it's been worth every penny. It's small enough for me to bring when l was helping a friend buy a used car. There are better scan tools, for instance my $500+ scanner does bi-directional testing, and a host of other features, but for simple trouble shooting of a check engine this is my go to scanner!

TLDR: No subscription fees, Excellent software: Ez to connect and Ez user interface, Trouble codes show most common problems.

Yup. That no-name crap is shilled out the wazoo. Amazon has removed over 1,000 fake reviews. And 30% of current reviews are fake according to ReviewMeta.

Critical reviews tell the REAL story:

"BEWARE.... this unit caused an UNEXPECTED major problem
Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2022

Purchased this unit 5 months ago and shortly afterwards I discovered that I was having a parasitic draw on my battery. If the vehicle was not driven for 48 hours, the battery would go dead. Never even remotely guessed that this OBD2 would be the cause...until now. I've spent the past several months pulling fuses and watching my multimeter to try to find the cause. I finally bit the bullet and took it to the dealer to figure out. Took several days of testing, but they finally figured out it was the OBD2 that was causing the draw. I Googled and found that a 'poorly designed (meaning cheap) OBD2 device, when left plugged into the OBD port will quickly drain the battery. Worse still, it can turn on your ECU even when the vehicle is not running and cause a dead battery in just 36 hours.' So BEWARNED... this OBD2 is apparently one!"

The Bluedriver engineering and often-updated software is Canadian.

You linked to the wrong Veepeak item. I'm talking about the BLE+ version, which is rated better than the Bluedriver on Fakespot. https://www.fakespot.com/product/...-in-the-us

I'm asking because the Tacoma forums highly recommend the Veepeak and it's half the cost. Also seems to work with most OBD2 iOS apps out there. Does this Bluedriver module show or do more for the money?

25% of current reviews are from likely shills with Previously Deleted Reviews:
https://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B076XVQMVS

The company gets an overall C grade.

Are you going to trust a shilling, unethical company? Your choice.

Even if it's great:
"Not all features available without an expensive upgrade

Great tool except that to get all features you must order an expensive upgrade for a specific car type. For example, I must pay an additional $85 to get all Toyota features. I didn't see any mention of that when I made the purchase. Order page says: UNIVERSAL VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY – Works with all OBD II / EOBD compliant cars and light trucks (in the United States, vehicles since year 1996 are supported, no brand limitation).

There a NO such charges with Bluedriver.

I'm not sure I know how to read these review pages. Same page you linked shows the Bluedriver has 40% current reviews likely shills with previously deleted reviews.
https://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B00652G4TS

So, in that case wouldn't the Bluedriver be more shilling, unethical company?

EDIT: this is a legit question lol I'm not trying to be a jerk

You need to understand how that works. Better ratings for deleted reviewers than not deleted often equals a high shill count. Lower ratings for deleted reviewers may be coming from competitors trying to destroy a product's rating, so I do not give that data much weight.

If you look at the same thing on Fakespot, you'll find 20% of reviews are likely fakes. When those are removed, the Veepeak rating tanks to a 3.5 from 4.5. https://www.fakespot.com/product/...-in-the-us

I have this Veepeak BLE+ connected to Ioniq 5 and using with Car Scanner Pro app. Works great and the app pulls a top of info. Supports optimized mode that app needs. This doesn't seem to have any impact on 12V battery that I have noticed.
