For me, the primary reason is for the downloadable maps. This is especially helpful when you are on a trail without cell service, and are at an multi-point intersection not knowing which is the correct route (sometimes trail markers aren't all that clear/obvious, or perhaps it's too early and you're not fully awake yet laugh out loud). I've tried to get away with the free version of AllTrails, and trekked down the wrong path once. Needless to say, I subscribed to AllTrails Pro after the 3-mile detour back to the parking lot.
Turn off auto-renew if you don't want to renew at full price at the end of one year.

How do I turn off auto-renew for my subscription?:

Found option to "Turn Off Auto-Renew" by going to this link in Android web browser (after login) and scrolling down:

Alltrails is great normal price sucks. They should just set the normal price at $20 and stop with the sales. TU!

This sub is one of the easiest ways to find good routes by popularity/distance from you and export the GPX route to other apps.

I use WorkoutDoors on Apple Watch and it's a great combo with this. Tbh I imported most of the trails I needed last time I subbed but subbing again will encourage me to find new trails.

note that you can export AllTrails GPX routes without a sub, for those who might not be aware this exists.

when viewing the trail, click 'More' (3-dot circle icon). Then 'download route'. You'll get a large number of output format options. Note that I was logged in when doing this. I've never had a sub and this has worked for years and works right now

Eh for popular trails I feel like downloading Google maps is enough. Since the coupon expired I'll just stick with this option.

I did get lost in Lake Tahoe hiking the desolation wilderness to Mt Tallac tho so theirs a price to pay for being cheap lol

Goog maps plus taking a photo of the map at the TH is usually enough for navigation. But where Alltrails and the like add value is picking which trails to hit.

Yea but that portion is free. You need the internet to explore new trails anyways.

Also as another user mentioned, you can still use the maps with no internet. You just save the trail and then hit navigate at the trail head, even without internet. There's just an annoying banner that always shows saying you have poor connection. Just tried it yesterday for the Avalanche Lake hike @ Glacier.

The pro version is kind of useless with that workaround.
