Semi-pro tip: don't buy anything referred to by the seller as a "pickleball racket", at least not to play pickleball with.

Looking to start playing with my wife soon. What would you recommend as far as the material goes? Ive seen fiberglass ones i believe and theae are wood.

These are 9.5 to 10.5 oz heavy. Great for developing tennis elbow at early age. How old are your kids? If you want to inspire your kids to play pickleball in the back yard I guess these cheap paddles are ok, but if you want them get into this sport long term and on a real pickleball court they'll be better off with a better quality (and lighter) paddle.

Start with the cheapest, even used, honey comb core paddles. They will serve you well. For how long depends on how fast you progress.

If you intend to play somewhat regularly I'd recommend (from personal experience) a Paddletek Bantam EX-L, which is composite. It's has a good mix of power and control. It's a good enough paddle to get you through to more advanced play. They're $99 online. If you want something different there are a bunch of paddles around that price point that are good. I'd stay away from the cheapie paddles like in this post because you'll quickly be in need of a better quality paddle as you get better.

I haven't tried this model or manufacturer so I can't really comment on it.
For what it's worth, the seller clearly photoshopped their paddle into pictures of major tennis players (who were clearly playing tennis at the time of the picture). Not sure how they're getting away w/it. Buyer beware.
The only other paddle I've used extensively is an ONIX Z5. It's a more power, less control intermediate paddle imo.

Got these last Christmas and they are garbage even for a started kit. They were warped, unable to even use.

Love all these comments about with way more expensive suggestions on a thread where 2 paddles are $15.

Always happens that way but really they're 2 paddles for $15, should fine for a small investment for someone who wants to try it out or kids.

Yea I have these they are fine for the first few times you play. Then buy a better one and keep these for friends. Totally fine and a great price

I saw these paddles and immediately went to the reviews to see if the handles broke like mine, and yep they sure did! I'd avoid these. They're fine for spares/backup/casual players, but if you're playing regularly I'd skip these.
