$6 isn't enough. I'm going to swap over to pennzoil. They still have their $10 dollar rebate and the price at Walmart is cheaper than Mobil 1

Because many rebates don't end up getting claimed or used which means some people accidentally pay full price when they intended to get the rebate.

The Car Care Nut is pretty respectful mechanic (and youtuber). I don't agree with him 100% of the time, but in this video I agree with him 100%. Nowadays engines (across the board, not just Toyota) are underbuilt to satisfy CAFE requirements. You have to change your car oil frequently despite of manufacturer's recommendations.
All I ever asked was for proof. Because I can show you cars that haven't had oil changes in well over 10k miles and they're still running.
I hope you know that the avg driver doesn't read forums at all. They put gas and oil in and expect it to go.

Trust me that guy from YouTube is doing it for the money. Do you really think he has better testing equipment than the R&D Dept has.

That has NOTHING to do with recommended oil changes or the brand of oil used. Those are mechanical or design programs.
I don't think you get my point. Nowadays all car manufacturers make subpar engines that consume oil. Prolonging oil change interval will make it worse.

Still waiting for you to make a valid point about the oil. I see NONE. Excessive oil burning is a mechanical or design problem.

How many times must I repeat myself.

This is getting really boring. So if you don't have anything constructive to say then let's end it here.

So if I can show you a car that has say 150k and isn't burning a lot of oil then you will agree oil has nothing to do with it?

I don't think you are mechanically inclined at all.
Cars consuming oil right from a dealer's lot is not OK. As I said before, car manufacturers will do anything to comply with CAFE regulations. My point is that nowadays engines are inferior to, let's say, engines 20-30 years ago. Nowadays, they don't make engines to last.
R&D works towards meeting CAFE requirements, not towards engines durability. Second item of R&D is that engines make through powertrain warranty. That is it.

I don't think you get. I repeat, nowadays engines burn oil across the board. Car makers cal it a norm. They don't call it mechanical or design problem.

Recently I sold a car with 265+ Kmiles. It burnt practically 0 oil. It was made in early 2000s. That is history. Nowadays cars burn oil right from a dealer's lot. You have to adjust to reality.

Nowadays cars consume oil right from dealers lot and they say that it is norm. So, I would not worry about extra 0.5~1.0 qt of oil in your engine. It will burn. Extra 0.5~1.0 qt will NOT cause any damage to an engine. Don't worry about it.
thank you, good to know.

100% correct. Oil analysis is the only way to judge how much the oil has broken down. It's science.

I find it funny that people will still believe there local mechanic or some guy on YouTube instead of the Major oil companies and auto manufacturers with a combined worth of Trillions of dollars.

You still don't get it. What side are you on? Do you work for any car maker?
Car manufacturer care about consumer is zero, nada, zip, zilch, nill, ни хуя as long as car makes it through warranty. I repeat again, CAFE, powertrain warranty, cost of maintenance - priorities of auto manufacturers. That is it.

Sorry if common sense is hard for you to understand.

Yes, I worked in the auto industry for 20years.

Care to tell me what your qualifications are besides reading something on the internet.

You can cry all you want about CAFE . I can show you many cars going over 200k without any problems . How many cars in the 90s did that. They didn't have CAFE.

What's your explanation?
