Yes, I worked in the auto industry for 20years.
Care to tell me what your qualifications are besides reading something on the internet.
You can cry all you want about CAFE . I can show you many cars going over 200k without any problems . How many cars in the 90s did that. They didn't have CAFE.
What's your explanation?
https://en.wikipedia.or
The Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards are regulations in the United States, first enacted by the United States Congress in 1975, after the 1973–74 Arab Oil Embargo, to improve the average fuel economy of cars and light trucks (trucks, vans and sport utility vehicles) produced for sale in the United States.

That proves Cafe isn't the problem of oil burning seeing it was enacted in 1975.
That was easy. LMAO
Damn these ahole dealers.
Oil capacity is
4.8 quarts with filter.
*I hate stealership shenanigans as much as anyone else and definitely do not practice myself, promote, or condone the following
I would guess the main reason for overfill is when refilling with new oil is laziness and/or saving time. So instead of adding 4 1/2 quart bottles and then pulling dipstick, wipe dipstick, check, reinsert dipstick, add more oil if needed, pull dipstick, wipe dipstick, check, reinsert dipstick, add more oil if needed, pull dipstick.. you get the picture- Tech just dumps all 5 quarts, oil cap, closes the hood, calls it a day.
or
the tech is misinterpreting 4.8Quarts +filter to mean "gotta add a little extra for the filter"
or
Tech says to themselves "eh, point 8, point 9, 5 whatever, who cares, it's close enough! not like MY car"
really could go on, but it can be any number of knucklehead reasons.

1. Corolla 2017 - overfilled 4 times
2. Corolla Hybrid 2022 - overfilled 1 time
3. Camry 2023 - overfilled 1 time (so far....)
This is me, 1 person, they overfilled hundred of millions of cars.

I had been using Mobil 1 oil for years. Recently switched to Penzoil and noticed that it's made from natural gas. I did some quick research online and people said there wouldn't be any difference. However, when I compare two bottles of same grade, the Penzoil one has slightly lighter color and seems to be more "liquid". Maybe it's my imagination but does anyone notice the same?
My engine runs great on both using Fram ultra synthetic oil filter at every 10K.

The difference between the two terms is that "100% Synthetic" refers to an oil that is made solely from synthetic base oils and chemical additives, while "Full Synthetic" may contain a blend of synthetic and conventional/mineral oils.
