Denon AVRs support Audyssey, which is Denon + Marantz's room audio correction system. There are 2 different levels, Audyssey XT and XT32, with XT32 being the higher level. This is baked into the AVR, so it cannot be upgraded. It's definitely worth running, to see if the acoustics of your particular room can be taken into account. It can be switched on and off if you hate the results. The higher end models allow for 2 different calibrations to be stored in the AVR, so you can switch quickly between the 2.
In addition to the Audyssey calibration you perform through the AVR's UI, there is also an app, MultEQ, available on both Apple and Android. This is $20. It allows for a much higher degree of customization than the AVR alone. It probably is worth buying if you want to tweak the settings more reliably.
On top of that, there is a Windows app, MultEQ-X. This is a fair investment @ $199, though sometimes it goes on sale for $149. This allows a ton of customization. For example, with newer models, you can re-run a calibration just for a single speaker if you change it or even move it to a different location. This price is far cheaper than any of the DIRAC add-ons that are available for the higher-level AVRs.
Very importantly, the computer app is LOCKED to a specific AVR, and your Microsoft userid. So you cannot transfer it to another Denon when you upgrade. You cannot move it from your userid to another. It requires another purchase. The phone app is not locked and you may use it with any AVR.
The best tip I learned, after it was too late for me, is if you choose to purchase MultEQ-X, is to create a specific Microsoft userid JUST for that app and AVR. That way, when you sell it, you can throw that in as a carrot.
Hope this is useful for some here.

Does the 4800 or 6700 give you a benefit worth the higher price?
I would also suggest to wait until you actually need it, price may drop on whichever you choose by then.
I personally am not considering the 700 series due to the single 8k port. This is not a light purchase for many of us and I don't want future ragrets

TBH for me it(4800) doesn't offer much more over the 3800.
If the 3800 new comes up for under $1k it's going to be hard not to grab one!
Have you thought of powering 2nd zone with a separate receiver?

As people often tout Dirac being so good in here.
If you feel you need it, $884 + Dirac($349)=$1233!
That's in the same price range as the RZ50, the 3800 is easily the better buy IMO.
Especially since sometime next year the 3800 will get the option of Diracs subwoofer integration RC(DLBC), the RZ50 will not!
I'm also not hugely happy with my 4800h coming from a 6500h since certain functions didn't operate the way I was expecting. Also some passthrough features broke between the models.
In retrospect I shoud've gotten the SR8015 for $600 more than the 4800h I ended up choosing even though it was older.
All the zones are powered by a Class D 12 channel amplifier (OSD Audio MX1280)
https://www.osdaudio.co
and I run the Zone 2/3 pre-outs to the amplifier + a trigger signal to only activate when i turn on those zones.
Only thing that sucks is that Alexa doesn't allow me to turn on Zone 2/ 3 via voice command (but I can do it via the web app).
Another option is a slim stereo receiver like that Yamaha on WWS eBay deal for $199.
If you have no brand preference, you can look at the Onkyo 7100 which was/is $800.
If you truly want it all in one that $1700 for the 6700 on WWS eBay deal is not to bad.
You could also look for used, people upgrading get rid of their current good AVRs for decent prices, might get lucky.

The good thing about Dirac is you don't NEED to get Dirac or the mic.
Dirac is good but that doesn't mean Audyssey XT32 is bad/no good, it's very capable(good also) IMO.
Keep in mind you are only able to get Dirac Live, Dirac Live Bass Control(DLBC) won't be available until next year with Denon/Marantz.

Not sure what you mean by Dirac not being available until next year? It became available in March 2023 and my unit got the firmware update to enable it if I purchase it now. It did say I need to use the UMIK-1 mic even if I buy it.
I agree that Audssey XT32 is very good but the difference between Audssey and Dirac is mainly on how it handles Bass.
Dirac takes into account the sound/time delays associated with subwoofer placement while audssey only accounts for frequency. So if you have muddy bass due to placement, Dirac can help fix that.

Basically Dirac splits it's RC algorithms for loudspeakers(Dirac Live) & subwoofers(DLBC).
Right now they only offer Dirac Live, sometime next year they will offer DLBC RC for Denon/Marantz.
