if this happens, complain to Amazon, and you should get a refund. They likely will not want the torn bag back from you.
Medium grain rice is consumed mainly by Koreans and Japanese. 10lb back is not that big for them because the rice is their staple diet. If you go to an Asian market you'll see piles of 40 or 50 pound bags of rice. This type of rice is stickier than long grain rice so it's not great for making a fried rice. Nishiki is considered one of the top brands by Koreans and Japanese when it comes to choosing rice, but I would be wary of buying rice from Amazon because chances are it could be an old stock. Nevertheless, price is good.
Solid rice, eating it right now. Do understand this is sushi rice, meaning it is a little on the stickier side comparing to long grain rice, such as jasmine rice.

When you get it just move the contents into a sealed container.
Put the rice into a zip lock bag in the freezer for 2 days then store in a sealed container. You won't get bugs later. This deal is good.

Recently had a soap container that got crushed and exploded, leaking soap everywhere. Amazon still wanted the empty, crushed container back. LMAO
Definitely ymmv there. They've never asked for my exploded containers back. Maybe depends on return frequency

Is this good to eat with stir fry? Wtf do Chinese restaurants use? I tried thai rice and jasmine rice and neither of them come out like restaurants. I'm using a zojurushi cooker.

I don't like mushy rice …..

" You will often find packages of rice labeled "sushi rice" at the store, and they will undoubtedly be short-grain Japanese rice. This type of rice has a higher starch content than many other varieties, and the grains tend to clump or stick together when cooked"

Buying 10 pounds of rice is nothing, 50 pounds I'd be saying something.
Curious, what would you say?
At any given moment at my household, I may have about 100-120lb of rice. (3 bags 40lb each - 2 unopened and 1 just opened)
Get them whenever I am down to last bag, just get 1 or sometimes 2 more bags if they are on good sale at local Asian grocery store.
Rice is MUCH MUCH cheaper than bread and cooking rice is MUCH MUCH easier than turning flour into a loaf of bread.
Of course, being an Asian, it is easy to just eat rice as staple food instead of bread.

We ordered a few bags from Amazon during the start of the pandemic and after about a month they had rice bugs in them. Never had this problem with the store bought bags. The bags weren't expired yet, so not sure what happened.

this is a great deal without having to bulk up.

if sushi making is too ambitious for you, you can
make a great fish or seafood side dish this way;

cooked rice, then stir in rice vinegar, finely
chopped scallion(green onion) and ginger.

Use SLIGHTLY less water when cooking.
Once cooked, just cover it loosely and COOL it overnight. It will dry out a bit (you can throw it into fridge during summer or if you are going to keep for couple of days).
Use microwave to heat it up (makes it easier to break a part when cooking)
heat up oil, put white part of scallions to make flavor come out.
put some eggs there.
when frying rice, do not fry it for LONG, just until they break apart and evenly coated with oil.
Towards the end, put rice on the side of the pan, tilt pan a bit and put soy sauce on the empty part of the pan and let it "burn up" a bit until they get saucy (not free flowing as before) then mix it up with fried rice, this will give that bit of smoky flavor - a bit of cheating since smoky flavor SHOULD come from very high heat wok. Then put salt to taste.
If you don't normally keep MSG, then use some oyster sauce if you have them - it contains MSG usually and flavor enhances taste, but do not use a lot of it since it makes the fried rice too fishy.
Of course, you can put other stuff there as well. Experiment.
Good luck!

Pretty good deal. Kokuho in Costco is $32 for a 25lb bag.
Tastes just fine.

Kokuho doesn't taste as good though.
I would be very surprised if you could successfully do a blind taste test of these mid-level brands.

this is the rice we've been eating and its the closest thing to Botan as far as flavor, smell and texture.
