But that doesn't cold smoke, dehydrate garlic and jerky, airfry wings. To each their own

I actually use them all weekly. Wings without smoke on Airfry (smoked chicken I don't like much). Steak I "reverse sear" smoke until 130 then grill on high for a sear. Grill salmon on hi with smoke. 5 hr smoke roast. Cold smoke sliced cheese and salt. Dehydrate with smoke to make smoked garlic/onion powder. Dehydrate sliced roast to make jerky. Grill on medium with pit boss charcoal blend for burgers and hot dogs. Grill on med no smoke for bacon and eggs. No open flames. Only uses a handful of pellets. It AWSOME

While I agree with some of your points, plenty of brisket's won't fit in my KJ classic, and none will fit in my KJJr.. but i still consider them smokers. I have never had the need to smoke an entire brisket, but have done a 18lb turkey just fine.

https://youtu.be/TMyrIIRhnHc 25lb turkey. Also, I have one. Easily worth the $500 retail. Smoked a 8lb roast on it today

I bought this yesterday and used it at the camp ground to grill hamburgers, the hamburgers were great. Going to try the smoker today to smoke some salmon. This is an awesome grill and works great. It also has the dehydrate feature as well, which I did not expect. I'll have to try it next time I make jerky. Amazon has a carrying case for it for only $50 as well if you plan on storing it while not using it. Thanks for the deal.

Is this worth picking up just for the smoking aspect? I've got a natural gas grill right outside my kitchen door and an air fryer. I'm not in the market for huge briskets or feeding a ton of people from it.

I've got no experience with a traditional smoker.

I just picked this one off this deal from a nearby Kohl's yesterday. Cooked some sausages in my kitchen with the Woodfire smoke function turned off. Did not ruin anything for me. Just make sure you aren't smoking anything.

Love ours. Made a smoky grilled pizza last night, cooked in less than 10 minutes.

For the grill, you can just use a smoker tray or something in it, unless you don't have the grill space.

This is essentially a very large air fryer with a smoke function. That is not the same as mixing a smoker + regular air fryer though; you'll ruin your air fryer if you try to pump smoke in via a smoke gun or other setup. Smoking leaves a ton of residue and everything you cook in that air fryer will start to smell like it (as well as the exhaust).

The temp control is also huge because of how much work goes into managing correct temps in a traditional smoker setup.

If you just want a cheaper way to get some smoke flavor, rub your roasts with a good quality liquid smoke, or get a smoke gun (or a mix of both). You won't get the bark that most want but you'll achieve most of the smokey flavor.

Or go with a jury-rigged wok setup or something similar.

Does this really get hot enough to properly "grill" like charcoal or gas BBQ's?

Fired it up for the first time last night to make some smoked and air fried wings. I thought smoking and air frying together sounded like a dumb gimmick, but it was what the wife wanted and I wanted to give this thing a test run. No lie, they were some of the best wings I've ever had. Tons of smoke flavor and a beautiful brown crispy skin. I'm kind of blown away and can't wait to try other things.
