Some of the features you can see and others you'd have to look up on the companies' websites. There may be advantages to the MSI that I'm missing, and I had every intent to buy an MSI board for this upgrade because they seem to be the best overall choice nowadays. I haven't looked into the quality and number of power stages, and the MSI could be superior there for all I know.

The Gigabyte board has the following features that push it into a slightly nicer tier, whether you want them or not:
Heat sinks for all four NVME drives vs. just one
"Armor" for two of the DIMM slots
Better audio chipset
SPDIF output
Beefier VRM heatsinks?
Integrated IO shield
Built-in RGB and a reset button on board

You'll also notice the MSI board has some busy silk screening on it. This is sometimes used to hide a lack of features (so that you don't readily notice a lack of chips, slots, etc.). Again, MSI was the motherboard company I wanted to buy from because they're getting good reviews and I'm sure it's a fine board. One of the reasons it was chosen to receive coreboot was it was a good value and MSI had already sold a lot of them.

Come to NY. Expensive AF here but 4 Micro Centers for you to waste whatever remaining cash you might have...
I used to work at the first one they had here. You took a technology test just to be a CASHIER! Needless to say, met a bunch of future IT people there and those tests are long gone for employees.
Still the best damn store around though, except for Total Wine obviously. That place is Toys 'R Us for adults.
In St Louis, actually Brentwood, the Total Wine store shares a parking lot with Micro Center.

Yes, you can. There are certain price of each parts. In case of this I purchased cpu 182.62, board 140.49, ram 26.88. You can return them each.
i tried to do this and they rep straight up told me they could not, is this something that we have to talk to a manager for, or is there some sort of company policy you have to quote?

Honestly, I don't know. My store is at Tustin and I purchased them I could return some partially but not the same day. I never tried it at the same day though.

DeepCool AK400 or any variation is fine. If you want rgb you can go for it.

That is some beautiful one-stop (for your car anyway) shopping right there!

Can you use the $25 off $100 on this combo? I see on the thread https://slickdeals.net/f/16585175-micro-center-25-off-100-or-more-new-customers?page=4#comments that someone could not use it on a CPU / Mobo combo...

Sounds like you ordered the other, DDR5-based deal. That's good too, particularly if you don't have DDR4 RAM you wanted to reuse.

Deal is still available. Need to rebuild an old media server PC that's dying on me.

This or the deal with the Asus mobo and DDR5? The RAM in that other deal is kind of scaring me, not great reviews and questionable compatibility with mobo/CPU.
