Acrylic glass?! On a $130 watch. bruh.

People don't really realize how much the glass effects the lifespan of a watch. Now this only applies to daily wear watches and beaters, but sapphire crystal is an absolute must imo. The lifespan of a quartz watch can be 20+yrs but if the glass gets all scratched up in the first 2yrs, then it's going to look like crap. And on a $130 watch it's just not worth replacing the glass, it's better to just spend the extra money on a watch that has sapphire crystal so you never have to replace it.

100% Agree. Scratched watch crystal gets an immediate pass on what I am wearing for the day. Even my TAG Formula that has some issues w/ the AR coating gets passed on. If I can't see the dial, I'm not wearing it.

Some might prefer the look of acrylic distortion, and ability to polish out scratches and scuffs.
Some might prefer the light weight of folded links.

Personally I'd rather get my weight savings from Ti, and visual warpage from boxed glass,so they are both a tall ask for me when it goes on sale quartz seiko with 100m WR, sapphire, solid link bracelet. Doesn't have the same charm as this green timex though, lovely.

Dude, the $5,000+ Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch [hodinkee.com]comes with an acrylic crystal. It's about the aesthetic, the retro feel, the optical distortion. Small scratches can easily be buffed out with Polywatch [youtube.com] or similar product. And for large scratches, good news! Plastic crystals are cheep to replace.

If you want a modern sports watch with a sapphire crystal, then by all means get one. But for a retro watch like this, acrylic crystal is the more authentic choice.

YOU RASCAL! YOU GOT ME! lol Can confirm this excellent find and discount. It's on it's way to meeeeeee!!! Thanks Tellingthem for this excellent find. Just another example of this community being awesome. I had absolutely loved this green dial when I first saw it at Costco and then talked myself out of it for $130. But for $105, shipped to my house, for some reason, I just could NOT say no! Smilie Much appreciated! - Frosty

Green dial looks nice. But apart from that what warrants such a high price for this watch? Genuinely asking.

Mainly the design and the brand. The quality is definitely above a fashion watch...but not much. But the $105 listed by a commenter, for a stainless watch from a real watch company, with some actual heritage is not bad.

You are welcome! Honestly that was my exact thought as well. I've been keeping my eye on this one because I loved the green dial. But I told myself I'd only bite at 100..and 105 was close enough.

That's very good to know, thank you for sharing. But I think Ill stick with sapphire. Plastic seems fine for dress/casual watches, but beaters/dive/tool watches are gonna need constant polishing. And sapphire can be polished too, but it rarely if ever needs it and its not that much more expensive imo.
