Pulled the trigger after debating between this and the Intel 670p currently available for $72.99. It is a newer model, gen 4, has a newer controller and hopefully better support from Solidigm. Downside is without DRAM.

Does this come with any proprietary software, for closing and secure erase?

I've only stuck with Samsung because they have utilities to clone drives and securely erase the drives if they need to be wiped.

Yes. Solidigm Storage Tool. Have it, used it, works fine. No cloning capability.
Samsung will work as long as one of the drives in the transfer is Samsung.
