What you have heard is probably 20 years back. For last 4 years, AMD does run cooler and consumes less power than Intel and provide better battery life. This specific Gaming laptop doesn't run hotter than its Intel counterpart and actually offer preety solid battery life for a gaming laptop. However, Gaming laptops always run hotter during load than any non gaming ultrabooks in general.

Exactly it's insane how long consumers will hold onto outdated thoughts about a brand. AMD is not even AMD from 15 or 20 years ago. Basically

So, that's the 5525, note the new G15 (5530) adds back a 2nd M.2 slot for much easier storage expansion.... I'm eyeing that one...

Edit: Seems like there isn't even a slot for the upgrade. So you cannot even buy a mounting bracket to add the SSD in the 2022 G15.

I mean it's not that difficult to install the mounting bracket.

If this 5525 has a superior value and you are already comfortable with opening your laptop, installing the bracket is just as easy. Here's a 4 minute tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s..._NlI&vl=en

However, if they were the same price then it would be preferable to pick the 5530.
Umm.. no, AFAIK, they didn't supply a connector for that 2nd spot on the 5525, so, only *one* NVMe...

Hmm seems like you're right. Anyway with 2TB ssds reaching $100 if you don't mind keeping your games on the same drive this deal isn't too bad.

Computer novice here with a question: any concerns about overheating as I've read AMD runs hotter than Intel and also higher level graphics card also runs hotter?

I have a last year's model Lenovo Legion 5 pro and virtually every reviewer said the AMD runs cooler than the intel model. The intel model does outperform though not by huge margined but most folks took the hit to get a cooler and hopefully in the long term longer lasting machine. I initially heard this model above runs hot, but my info may be out of date. I would watch Jarrod's Tech and look up this model. He's a solid, in depth, no fluff or too much extraneous commentary reviewer. https://youtube.com/@JarrodsTech
