What you have heard is probably 20 years back. For last 4 years, AMD does run cooler and consumes less power than Intel and provide better battery life. This specific Gaming laptop doesn't run hotter than its Intel counterpart and actually offer preety solid battery life for a gaming laptop. However, Gaming laptops always run hotter during load than any non gaming ultrabooks in general.

Exactly it's insane how long consumers will hold onto outdated thoughts about a brand. AMD is not even AMD from 15 or 20 years ago. Basically

I heard this thing runs really hot 🔥 🥵
I cannot tell if this is exactly the same model but I bought the G15 from Costco and sent it back. The keyboard was hot just literally sitting there idle. It is also extremely heavy and was not as fast I would have expected with a dedicated GPU. Just my humble opinion...

I have a last year's model Lenovo Legion 5 pro and virtually every reviewer said the AMD runs cooler than the intel model. The intel model does outperform though not by huge margined but most folks took the hit to get a cooler and hopefully in the long term longer lasting machine. I initially heard this model above runs hot, but my info may be out of date. I would watch Jarrod's Tech and look up this model. He's a solid, in depth, no fluff or too much extraneous commentary reviewer. https://youtube.com/@JarrodsTech
Was considering canceling initially when saw this video review. After watching all the way through see some significant differences between the review model and this deal. The processor being the biggest difference, which in video he suggest this AMD Ryzen likely performing better. Also his largest gripe was blue screens which recent reviews suggest is no longer an issue.

Also used the Amex deal for $120 back as well as the $120 cash back from the popular cash back site. If both deals come through, will bring my total including taxes to $837.55

My use will primarily be for audio/video capture/editing. May try some games but haven't played any PC games in years.

Then no need a powerful graphics like 3070. It only produces more heat than you want.

I've had a Dell G15 5525 similar to this (same CPU but with a 3050Ti), and I've had zero blue screens in the 3-4 months I've had it.
