Agreed 1169-140 is 1029 which is still less than the retail for a 256 gb version at 1199. Also with the rumored 100 dollar price hike on all 15 pro models, this is definitely a steal for hardware that will last a few years.

Just buy an e-sim online and activate it online. It's even easier than before, no need to go to a physical store or kiosk to pickup a physical sim. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and have traveled through Europe and Africa with it, zero issues with cell service.

I have 13 pro max and it also has esim. I'm using esim on Verizon. More flexibility with the 13 since you have both, physical and ESIM.

Doesn't work for India though. You need to be on post paid plan to get esim in India

eSim is not vastly available all over the world and it shouldn't be generalized because few countries allow buying sims like potato chips. Certain countries it isn't easy to buy a sim, needs proof and identity checks even for pre-paid. People already having physical Sims from other countries isn't that easy to switch to esim until they land there.

Airalo is your friend. All of these "you need a postpaid account to get eSIM in (country x) seem to forget there are lots of other options. Sure - you can save $1-2 by buying eSIM locally, but it's awfully handy to not have to mess around on arrival.
