Is Optane 900p that much better than SSD? I did a quick search and still not sure why it is so much more expensive.

It's markedly faster than other desktop consumer drives, space is the main restricting factor at play. If you have the slot to use it you won't get anything faster for the price

Hmm, doubt. Review from 2017 (!) "Optane 900P provides up to 2,500 MB/s of sequential read throughput"
