I was amazed to learn that there is practically no difference between an i9-12900H and an i7-12700H. Max turbo is 300Mhz higher and GPU is slightly faster. That's it. Cores and everything else are identical.

I'm not sure anyone can tell the difference between 4.7Ghz and 5.0Ghz. Rule of thumb is 10% increase to be able to notice.

And you're forgetting the laughing stock you'd become for buying a 3070 laptop for over $1100 at this point in time when you can get a 3070Ti for less, Radeon RX 6850M for just a few dollars more, both of which are way better than 3070; and even 4060 for less or around this price point.

Plus, the 3070Ti version of this was available at this price twice a few months ago on Amazon.

A laptop is judged by its overall performance and price to functionality ratio. The i9-12900H in this chassis makes this device a microwave, reviews of which you can find online. So, not much use of having an i9 in this when it's going to thermal throttle to death and not even make full use of the 3070. Had it been 3070Ti at this price, then it would've been a pretty sweet deal minus the thermal throttling even then.

You could've searched the first page of laptop deals here and would've found a number of deals, but I'll do you a solid by mentioning them here:
1. The Acer Nitro 5 is a better laptop overall when compared to this. Would probably be a good deal if you plan to use this with a cooler indoors. Probably not for a lap sitter outdoors though

I have the 3070ti model with the i9. The laptop hits 100c on stock thermal paste. I swapped it out with PTM 7950, it helped it to where its mostly 80s but will still hit mid 90's when gaming. Be mindful of the surface you place this laptop.
