I do think a machine spec like this should at least come with 400 nits. Ideally 500 nits for super bright display that really pops

Cpu, RAM disk are amazing specs though

For my own use cases, this seems almost too good to be true. I am looking for a 32Gb laptop, 16" touchscreen, etc. I have a 16Gb Samsung eBook 3 and it's been awesome. But the eBook 3 isn't available with 32Gb, isn't upgradable and their high-end Ultra laptop doesn't have touchscreen!!!

The LG Gram looks interesting. There are complaints against the speakers, but I almost always use headphones anyway, so that's a non-issue for me. The Costco deal is a lower-res screen (2560 x 1600) compared to what LG have on their site (3K 3200 X 2000). But I almost never consume video, at least to the extent that the quality is particularly important to me (my eBook 3 is 1920 x 1080 and works for me just great).

The 350 nits is a worry. I don't really know how big a deal that will be in my day-to-day work.

I cannot figure how/why Costco are offering this for almost half the price of the same laptop on the LG site [lg.com] ($1,099 vs $1,999), The only difference I can see is the 3k display, but everything else seems the same, as far as I can tell.

It almost feels like LG changed their mind about the display and Costco got landed with the lesser screen, so trying to dump them now

I am genuinely wondering if I am missing something here. Seems a bit too good to be true.

These would be more… enticing if it had a nice display. Apple lives on with Retina. You'll see, these look absolutely horrid in person.

i never had anything nice or better in my life to compare it too. i probably wouldn't know. what i wish for is some kind of high res like 2-3k, matte, high refresh rate 120hz or faster. i dont know if such exist in the wild. glossy reflective screens annoy me. on display in store all screens look good but i prefer matte non reflective.

I typically get dells. I couldn't find something in the price range and specs. I got the gram but it's the 12th gen CPU and 17inch screen. I have been impressed so far. If almost feels empty.

different laptop. the one you linked seems to be nicer overall as it's more expensive than this same laptop listed on their site (this one is on sale for $1450 LG gram 16" 2in1 Thin and Lightweight Laptop, Intel® 13th Gen Core® i7 Evo™ Platform, Windows 11 Home, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Black (16T90R-K.AAC7U1) | LG USA)

I don't think you're missing anything. This resolution with the 16-inch display seems like the perfect balance between invisibly small pixels and not wasting battery life by having too many pixels to light. I picked up the 11gen open box for $5-600 a couple weeks ago and the screen looks great. It's not quite as bright as my XPS 15 with a 4K display, but I can't see the pixels and the battery lasts more than 4 hours (contrast XPS, which I always have to switch to 1080p to use on battery).

There haven't been significant processor improvement in the last couple of Intel generations, and memory and storage are almost free now, so I don't think this is too good to be true. Not bad at all though.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Yes, I understand they are different (the display differs) but I'm trying to figure out how they are different. The price is much higher on the LG site but the Costco one seems almost identical in spec (display being the only difference I've spotted)...but has twice the memory and SSD of the one you referenced.

So I'm still half expecting to find some big difference from the $1,999 model I mentioned on the LG site - but I'll be darned if I can find it, aside from the display) Smilie

For the same configuration with Apple, you'll spend $2000+
