They keep removing features if you don't have a camplus subscription. The cameras were a lot more useful when I first bought them.

Keep an eye out for the Home Depot deal. Two-pack of v3 cameras for $35. I've now bought it twice and can only expect it will come again.

Hey, they gave you the answer, it's up to you if you want to stay angry and moan or if you want to do something to set the cameras up the way you want.

Sounds like you hate them lol unless that was sarcasm
They are very good cameras but goddamn the notifications are goddamn annoying. They need to update the software to one exclude known people in the household and two pause notifications without turning off the cameras. If my guy comes to cut the grass I have to shutoff all the cameras because when he's cutting the grass he's setting off all the cameras constantly. If I am out on my deck or driveway same thing. With my Ring doorbell I can pause everything for half an hour, an hour etc and then it kicks back on. It picks up movement great and the nightvision is fantastic but it's just so annoying. And don't get me started on trees and bushes moving in the wind, have to grey out any of those in the app or that's constantly going off too. I have one of those Feit floodlight cameras from Costco that I am about to rip out and return too because I have a couple trees on the side and when there is wind it's basically unusable since constantly setoff the motion sensors on that too.

I have tried some of their refurbs from eBay. Had to return half of them. Some of these units have a focusing problem, which is likely why people returned them, but the refurb testing I am sure only checks the connectivity and basic 'I see video'.
this. Wyze Cam is known for having garbage built quality.

Wish I could get a power adapter so I can rig one of these outdoors. Thanks for the great post as always navy wife.
I've heard that going from USB to an Ethernet cord (using just a normal adapter) back to USB lets you get really long distances without power or data loss. Only heard that in passing. I haven't looked into it very closely yet.

It is possible to turn off the notifications with just one button press on the home screen of the Wyze app. You have to use the "Shortcut" rule. One to turn off the notifications, and one to turn them back on.

The Wyze cams are able to snooze your notifications for a certain amount of time too.

I hate that shortcut bullshit, when my Ring goes off I can either select it on my phone or Apple Watch to snooze it for multiple time periods and done, someone who is 80 years old who has never dealt with technology can figure it out instantly.

I'm trying to figure out if these Wyze cameras are my best option. Not sure if I should go in this direction or go nest? I have a nest doorbell so am used to that and have the subscription already but these seem pretty cost-effective.
My philosophy is: cameras don't stop an attack, only serve as a deterrent and as evidence.

As a deterrent, I'd rather have 20 Wyze cameras obnoxiously spread throughout the house than 2 nest cameras. Having 20 cameras is a significant deterrent and makes you look like a crazy person who also probably has a shotgun in the house lol. Who cares about the subscription just put SD cards in there and you get a weeks worth of recording locally stored.

And yah, with 20 cameras you should get many good angles from all around the house on any event. The v3 cameras are pretty legit too, not potato quality.

I have notifications turned off, not needed. I love these cameras and I live in a sketchy neighborhood.

Great find amazing! Thank you. Question for the slickdeals society? If I return a previous Cam that has the subscription can I swap that subscription to these new cameras? Hope I make sense!!
Yes. You can move subscriptions around through difference devices.

This was my philosophy… buy a bunch for piece of mind video recording/coverage (local SD cards) and to deter crime.

Same philosophy. These cameras provide great quality and aren't used for notification. Local recording provides plenty of storage to capture events.

For example- I got a call from a family member that their car was hit by someone while parked in my driveway the day before. I was out of town, but quickly looked up the video recording and found proof that the Amazon driver did a hit and run. I turned over that video to Amazon and they paid for a completely new bumper no questions asked. This little $20 camera saved us $1000 in repairs (it was bad damage).

These cams are great. SD card is the way to go. I'm holding out for new cams. Hate dealing with refurb issues.
