Water pump pliers by another name are known as channel-lock pliers. They're great for using on plumbing fittings because they're easily adjustable and they have teeth which let you get good grip on pipes and plumbing fixtures.
Just know these are TINY. I have the XS wrench version of this and it was so much smaller than I expected. They are 4 inches in total length from the end of the handle to the end of the head. I use mine in the toolkit I keep on my motorcycle since they are so small and lightweight and they help to grip small things in harder to reach places. I've been wanting to pick up this XS cobra model as well, but only because I have a tool addiction. Tempting…

Why are they called water pump pliers? Do an image search on "old water pump". The action of these pliers functions much like old water pumps. It's not that they're made for working on water pumps (but funnily enough likely used for it), but that the motion is similar when opening or closing the pliers.
Edit: still a solid deal on some good channel locks
