Has anyone seen this happening to their 3+ year old WD NAS drives? https://youtu.be/cLGi8sPLkLY

Just saw this report that WD has decided to start marking the drives as having a problem if you have enabled the WD analytics, after they have been on for 3 years of use.

It doesn't mean they stop working but may make it hard to know if your drive really has a problem if I'm understanding the video correctly?
Good luck lol
Some advice for people, don't upgrade your drives unless you're going to run out of space soon (next 6-12 months). They'll always get cheaper over time, it makes no sense to pay more for higher storage now if you're not actually going to use it soon. It's not like upgrading RAM / CPU where you can gain immediate benefits. I bought 4 4TB WD red drives around 4 yrs ago and up till now I've used only 21% of the storage. Every year I see these deals and convince myself I should upgrade, and then I check how much storage I've actually used and realize there's no point upgrading.

Great price on 2x Red Pro drives. Too bad you can't stack cart codes with deals anymore.

I see there is a way to disable Western Digital Device Analytics in Synology. Is there something similar in unRAID? My Google-fu is coming up empty

Here's what I don't get, isn't cheaper to make SSD than to manufacture mechanical hard drives therefore SSD still significantly more expensive! How come???

Not yet as my two Nas haven't made the jump to 7.2 yet. I don't see the option to disable on 7.1. this is a great deal, but I'm going only Seagate from now on. Currently have a mix

I see 12% cb through PayPal , no idea if that works or not.

Was going to jump on this but with tax it's $541 and I don't *need* to upgrade two drives.

Going to grab one of the 18tb WD recert drives and call it a day.

Edit: per below user "It's "UP" to 12% based on the product. Red Pro gets $11.42 fixed amount each purchase. It's less than 3% from the other cashback site."

Is this only on Synology NAS or also on QNAP and others?
