Good find! Here is the front for it BTW, which is $52 using the same code:

That's the whole wheelset for $115 out the door! Not too shabby for those upgrading those Walmart or Costco bikes. These will work just fine with tires up to 2.3" wide, contrary to what you may hear.

Well, "duh", QR is very popular with the vast majority of sub $1k bikes, but there are more than one rear wheel hub widths.

Even though 135mm is the vast majority right now, certain bikes that get posted here, like the Axum that got lots of traction/popularity, are 141mm and you should not try to bend or alter the frame trying to make QR135 work.

I am not being difficult, but actually trying to help. Thus I don't understand what you quoting me added or corrected anything to what I've said.

Rims are 23mm
My stock rims are 20mm and i fit 2.3" on them, for what it's worth...

Luckily I only busted the rear 😜 but agree, good price for a front if that's needed

Good find. I taco'd my 29er rear wheel a few years ago and bought a clearance set of decent Mavic rims with Shimano RM66 hubs from jensonusa for slightly less than $100 shipped, so a pretty good deal.

Just check your spacing before you order.

E.g. I am sure the Schwinn Axum is QR141 rear (aka boost), not QR135 that is typically what you find in most QR MTBs.

Measure twice, they say...

Nope. That bike runs 27.5" wheels. You could use this 29" wheelset with smaller tires, but there is no reason to do that.

Ya, but 141 is real, and an aluminum frame designed around that standard will absolutely fail if your clamp this in there.

possibly so and why it's always important to use the right parts. Same with people using too large (wide) of a tire on too narrow of a rim. It's fine for smooth roads, but when one is making a sharp turn in the rough, chances are good the tire will separate/roll off from the too narrow rim.

It will not fail, but you will affect shifting and chain line. The rear has enough flex for you to clamp it down 6mm (3mm each side), but no, it is not a proper way to do it. If your 29 Walmart MTB has 135mm rear and disk brakes it is a great deal. Install 7 speed cassette with a spacer and don't need even to change shifters. They have 30mm identical wheel for 141 boost for $5 more I believe, Wheel Shop WTB STi30 / Formula DC2241 Boost, Wheel, Rear, 29'' / 622, Holes: 32, QR, 141mm, Disc IS 6-bolt, Shimano HG $70 after coupon.

Is the Taff boost 141 like the Axum? My Taff is still in the box, but that freewheel has got to go. Lol.

Edit. Thx, Banana for the boost wheel heads up!
