Serious question, what does this do that a bike app doesn't?
Not sure which app you have, but available features aside, you can see the screen in the sun, it's rainproof, better battery life, and you won't destroy the image stabilization of your phone's camera by mounting it on the bars.

All these, plus if you get into an accident, at least your phone won't get wrecked if it's mounted.

If you get serious into cycling. I mean not just casual riding. 30+ mile rides.
You'll need a GPS bike computer. It makes a world of difference. You can find a route on ride with GPS and just go. Makes it 100x easier to go on rides.
Works where cell signal isn't present.

Did not have that issue with my Garmin 130 Plus.
I'm currently using a ROAM v1 now, which I picked up with the Cadence, Speed, and Heart Rate sensor for $180.
