So I would steer clear from woot with these headphones…. Last time I got XM4s and it was the Chinese version

I also read about this in their forum. I saw that Woot reached out to customers acknowledging they sent the wrong product offering to refund people's purchases. Did you get that offer?

I got my XM5s from the Woot-Off from last Thursday and they are definitely brand-new.

They are quite the upgrade over my XM2s.

My son loved his headphones he bought new. After 4 months the plastic swivel hinge broke on the right earpad. Read up on it and apparently is a design flaw in XM3/4/5 and Sony told us sorry but not covered. They suggested sending to the only authorized service center which is in New York. Bummed. Saw a video online and have to take ear completely apart to repair properly.

The only problem with XM5 is that while on a call the other person can hear their echo loud and clear which is very annoying, please reddit this before buying returned after buying since my main use was taking calls

Talking about overkill, these are designed for listening music and the sound quality is there.

Any good wireless, open-back folks recommend? I've had issues finding anything decent. My assumption has been you'd likely want wireless as closed back since you would more likely not be at home during some use, and the wireless components, including the battery, just make more sense in a closed-back design.

Wireless open back doesn't exist and honestly Openback headphones for watching movies and shows would be absolutely ridiculous. These work great for shows. Open back headphones are for 31 year old bachelors with no shared housemates and too much disposable income and a 8-unit long daisy chained headphone stack.

If your TV or other device supports APTX then would advise looking for a pair of headphones that supports APTX. Many popular bluetooth headphones have a slight delay which can cause the sound to not perfectly synchronize with the video. APTX eliminates that delay. If these Sonys had APTX support I'd be very tempted. But with the amount of videos I watch with headphones the lack of APTX is a no go for me.

I'm Avantree headphones with their custom transmitter module to overcome this situation with the delay in bluetooth audio. But it means that the special audio transmitter has to connect to a digital or analog audio output on my TV. As I use my headphones exlusively for movies and TV the effort of settting this up was very much worthwhile. But I would imagine the Sony product in this deal has better sound quality than the Avantree.

Need the "best "noise cancelling over ear headphones that I can use on the plane (i dont want to hear ANY outside noise) , use on zoom/microsoft teams meetings when my kids are exremely loud in the house.

Which are better, xm5s or bose 700?

I use the XM3s for gaming and movies ALL OF THE TIME. 110% recommend. No idea why anyone would question that but I bet the XM5s are just as perfect for this. No brainer and some people are just overthinking.

Use the Sonys on plane all of the time. ANC is top notch. Add music and you are only going to be able to see people talking, but not hear it. Wouldn't board a plane without them.

Edit: I also use them mowing my yard, also a life (or ear) saver for that.
