This is excellent protein powder but is not their 100% isolate, if that's important to you.

I make protein smoothies with the vanilla. Ice, a little water, a scoop of powder and then either frozen blueberries or frozen mango. This makes a really nice smoothie. The mango turns out particularly creamy.
I buy their 100% isolate version. Note that this version contains less protein. Their 100% isolate versions are about 83% (vanilla) and 78% (chocolate) protein. This version contains less at 73.5% (vanilla) and 69% (chocolate) protein. Personally, I recommend products with higher protein ratio if your goal is to get more protein.

casein digests slowly so it can feel heavy in the stomach. yogurt and milk are mostly casein protein.

but since it's slow digesting some eat it before going to bed to keep the body continuously supplied with protein.

Casein v. Whey (and/or whey isolate) proteins are very different. Can easily look up, but among differences are that whey is generally fast absorption vs. slower with casein (some folks take whey right after workout, casein at night/before bed).

If you are using it in a recipe you want the casein

I can't stand how dymatize over sweetens their protein. ON chocolate is already enough when I mix with milk. Dymatize even mixed with water is so deathly sweet, made the mistake of buying 2 tubs when it was on sale and I am stuck trying to finish it. It also blends terrible and foams up vs. ON

There's such a huge difference between flavors within each line as well.

Dymatize makes the best Vanilla (ISO100) I've ever had by a wide margin, and it mixes very easily with just water. However, I actually found the Chocolate Peanut Butter (Elite) not sweet enough; sort of tasted chalky. And it didn't mix as well.

The ONGS Mocha Cappuccino might mix the best of any powder I've tried, and I think it's a great balance of sweetness and bitter. But Vanilla Ice Cream is very artificially sweet and mixes into a sludge.

People just have to try out what works best for them (price, protein ratio, digestion, mixing method). Personally, I'm currently only getting Dymatize ISO100 because of the high protein ratio and much lower cholesterol.

This vanilla flavor is the best I have ever had, and I have had many.
Ordering it again.
Thanks, OP.

The biggest difference is slow vs fast absorption.

But if you want to keep reading; enjoy!

Micellar casein and whey protein are both popular types of protein supplements commonly used by athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals looking to increase their protein intake. While they are derived from milk, they have distinct characteristics and are digested and absorbed differently by the body. Let's compare micellar casein and whey protein:

Digestion and Absorption:

Whey Protein: Whey protein is quickly digested and absorbed by the body. It is rapidly broken down into amino acids, which are readily available for muscle protein synthesis.
Micellar Casein: Micellar casein forms a gel-like substance in the stomach, which slows down digestion. This slow-release property results in a sustained release of amino acids over a longer period.

Protein Synthesis:

Whey Protein: Due to its rapid digestion and absorption, whey protein stimulates muscle protein synthesis quickly. It provides a rapid increase in amino acid levels in the bloodstream, making it an ideal choice for post-workout recovery.
Micellar Casein: While micellar casein is slower to digest, it provides a sustained release of amino acids. This prolonged availability of amino acids may support muscle protein synthesis for a more extended period, making it suitable as a nighttime protein or between-meal supplement.

Leucine Content:

Whey Protein: Whey protein has a higher leucine content compared to micellar casein. Leucine is an essential amino acid known to stimulate muscle protein synthesis. The high leucine content in whey protein makes it effective for muscle growth and recovery.
Micellar Casein: Micellar casein contains less leucine than whey protein. However, the slower digestion and sustained release of amino acids may compensate for the lower leucine content.

Timing of Consumption:

Whey Protein: Whey protein is often consumed immediately after workouts to take advantage of its rapid absorption and promote muscle recovery.
Micellar Casein: Micellar casein is commonly consumed before bed or during prolonged periods without protein intake, such as during sleep, to provide a slow and steady release of amino acids.

Overall, both micellar casein and whey protein have their benefits and applications. Whey protein is well-suited for post-workout recovery, while micellar casein can be useful as a nighttime or sustained-release protein source. The choice between the two depends on individual preferences, goals, and timing of consumption. It's worth noting that a combination of both proteins can provide the benefits of rapid and sustained protein availability throughout the day.

SR whey isolate is same price with coupon. Best tasting protein I've had.

Strangely, Amazon is allowing me to do multiple S&S orders with the coupon.
