I get the appeal in automatics. I have a few myself that I paid a premium for. But I keep going going back to my trusty quartz Movado as my daily driver. Quartz is just so much "easier". I guess it's also partially laziness on my part.

I agree, but the vast majority of folks aren't watch enthusiasts, and won't care. For them, a quartz movement will be easier and more practical.

Even as a watch guy who mainly collects autos, I'm tempted to pick up one as a beater.

Apples and oranges - Invicta pro diver can be had for like 1/3 to 1/2 the price of this and you get a well known automatic movement. There's really nothing that's "definitely" better than that.

The Glycine has some details that are better like sapphire crystal and good lume.

A better comparison would be the Orient Kamasu.

The 2 colors on the bezel are a gimmick. They normally used for the 2nd time on GMTs, to tell whether it's daytime or nighttime.

I mean.. the idea that this watch will be used by any legitimate diver is a gimmick too. It's just design.

Also, this is close to the regular sale price that can be found from such gray market importers pretty much any time.

And it's a lot easier for me to spin up an auto after sitting a while than to replace a battery.
