Jeez this thread is grim. I just got back from 2 weeks in Taipei and had some of the best foods in my life. Ate at some Michelin breakfast spot for $6, Uber was under $10 a ride to get anywhere. The subway was easier to use than NYC. Exchanged $300 for food/drinks/exploring and it lasted me & wife the whole two weeks including drinking at bars every night. I even got new prescription eyeglasses at this place that did it all in 20 mins. Booked my own car with driver for 10 hours for $100 to visit the more rural areas, this was the highlight. Highly recommended!
i saw that. it was due to crosswinds. better safe than sorry.

it was overnight at narita airport. everyone affected got full refunds and were provided sleeping bags, water and snacks. i wouldn't mind spending the night at narita and getting ramen or bento box.
The direct delay was about 7 hours only, not days.
It's caused by strong cross wind. After a few failed landing attempts, the flight landed on the alternative airport. When it finally reached the destination airport, it's 7 hours late. No immigration staff was on duty at late night. No transfer flight could take off at late night. Therefore passengers were stranded in the airport until next morning.
Starlux is a new small airlines with few airplanes. The delay of the flight caused cascaded delays.

warning: this airline just delayed a flight to Tokyo for days, almost led to an accident, and caught a lot of attentions locally.

"almost led to an accident, "

Mind to elaborate what accident, almost, it was? Narita airport is known to have crosswind problems at this time of year.

There's a reason the ticket is so cheap. I don't blame Starlux for what happened but it still dropped their status to the bottom of the totem pole. Think of them currently as the Spirit Airlines of Taiwan. Fly at your own risk.
why such harsh words if "you don't blame them"?

Do I want to go to Taiwan? Yes. Am I flying something called Starlux airlines? No. Holding out for United or EVA
Funny, same Chairman as EVA and he piloted the inaugural Starlux flight to LAX.
