any chance CA will create a state incentive to buy EV cars ? (with no income limitations)
You want tax payers in California to subsidize your premium vehicle purchase without disclosing your income? This is why people in CA are leaving…

with no income limitations? no. the reality is that new car prices are at $40,000 in california right now. The model 3 is now $38,000 without incentives, and you will save thousands on fuel per year. its by far the best new car value. even if i was making $50k a year i would buy a model 3 because the savings over year will add up so much.

Go look at carvana and in california a 5 year old accord with no warranty and 50k miles will sell for $30,000 all day long. The prices here should be illegal. its pure scalping.

Everything is politically motivated. Do you see the scenario above being a reality in any situation? Slim chances. I'd rather see them do a cap on the price of EV's or a very generous buy back ICE program contingent of buying an EV.

Nah dude all you gotta do is frack, drill 10 miles down and then 10 miles horizontally once youre 10 miles down. Couldnt be easier! The stuff is EVERYWHERE!
Nah, bro, what you gotta do is pay millions of people thousands of dollars each to all buy EVs to plug into a grid that struggles to produce enough power just to keep air conditioners running, let alone translating our liquid fuel fleet into electrical load on top of that.

Trust me, I watched a YouTube of an engineer who said everything's been debunked.

Premium vehicle? Check the thread title, we are talking about Model 3 here. It doesn't even have parking sensors.

in New jersey you get $4,000 discount for new ev purchase. why can't CA do something similar? (it would incentivize EV purchase over gas vehicles)

I just find it hilarious about 30% of our total energy consumption is liquid fuels for roadway vehicles, and that we can plug that into the grid with no issues. You're going to have cities where the electrical load doubles in the next 10-20 years with minimal population growth.

I consulted an engineer on YouTube who said this will be fine.

what kind of dumbass EV owner is charging during the day? thats when im using my EV

i charge my ev when im not using it at night when baseload power plants are running and literally just discharging energy into thin air because no one is using it.

Whats scarier than Tesla&Co is a publicly traded company called Saudi Aramco

1. Apple 2.86 trillion market cap
2. microsoft 2.49 trillion market cap
3. Saudi Aramco 2.04 trillion market cap

The executives there raise the oil price as much as possible year after year, they see the writing on the wall, there will be an inflection point where everyone is going to not be able to afford their gas guzzler SUVs/Trucks, and americans will be scrambling to buy EVs because they cant afford to drive to work anymore. The people stuck with gas cars for whatever reason will be bled dry by saudi aramco.

As we can see, some people are too dumb to drive an EV.

Yep, I do. Feel free to read up on copper mining. 20 years from discovery to a mine. And most production is in Peru and Chile. There's a reason why car manufacturers are buying production streams from miners: there's not enough metal.

Grid growth. That's hilarious. We're having energy emergencies with regularity. The first controlled blackouts in the history of the Great Plains occurred a couple years ago. Reason? Not enough power generation. Texas was 4 minutes and 22 seconds from cascading blackouts that would've taken weeks to restore.

That was with EVs being a negligible part of the auto market. You do realize electrical transformers "pop" in the summer due to hot temperatures and air conditioning load, right? Of course you had no idea. So if you add load by plugging in an EV, that's going to further strain the distribution system.

So if a neighborhood with no EVs already has transformers under stress with a typical summer afternoon, why wouldn't that neighborhood have a bigger problem if 20% of the homes suddenly plugged in EVs?
You may or may not know everything about mines and oil, but you FOR SURE know almost nothing about EVs. NO ONE charges their car at PEAK times, it costs too much.. Those 20% EVs charging will be overnight when it's cheap, when there is a big excess of electricity..
