You forgot to mention the $1390 destination fee, $425 for wall connector, $230 for mobile charger, $250 non-refundable order fee.

Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

Why?

The mobile charger is roughly half the price, works just as well for 99% of situations, AND you can take it with you on a road trip unlike the wall charger and even swap out the plug end so it'll work in other sockets in other locations.
There is literally no reason to take a mobile charger with you. It's just adding weight to the car and it might actually get stolen/lost.

As with all your posts, this is factually wrong.

A mobile charger is handy if you plan to drive a significant distance away and stay there for a while and want to charge your car there.

I've done with with AirBnBs a number of times for example.

Though even if you remove the portability benefit I listed several other reasons it's better than the wall charger for 99% of users, at ~half the price, and you ignored all of those too.

My wall charger is at least 10 years old and still going strong. Mobile charger won't last 10 years.

I'll take "nonsense you just made up with no reason behind it" for $1000 Alex! LMAO

(nice job deflecting from the "no reason to take it with you" nonsense I just debunked though!)

Only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is that fact that I won't get the full $7500.

Is this for basic min req 15k/30k or 100k/300k? Insurance can differ state to state too.
I have M3 and MY on 100k/300k with 3 drivers (one is 20 year old) with state farm for $127. I'm pretty sure my insurance went down with the MY when I replaced a 1 year old minivan.

"From 2024 onward, you'll also have the option of transferring your federal EV tax credit to a qualified selling dealer and receiving the amount of the credit as a discount on the car, as opposed to having to wait for tax season."

Yup- but you will still have the same requirements to qualify for the credit (income limits, needed tax liability, etc).

What the law says is you can transfer to the dealer any credit you would otherwise be entitled to tax during tax season if you hadn't chosen to transfer it.

Going to demo drive a model 3 Friday for this deal (along with loot box bonus)… tried the Model Y today and was disappointed, definitely understood you're buying a 25k car with a 25k battery, if the model 3 is close to this (I hear ride quality is actually better) this is a much better deal.

Tried to justify getting rid of my Jeep GC Summit but couldn't take the downgrade in comfort, got the wife to think about dropping the Prius C for this Slickdeal. Thanks!
