You forgot to mention the $1390 destination fee, $425 for wall connector, $230 for mobile charger, $250 non-refundable order fee.

Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

https://www.tesla.com/model3/design

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

Are you in Texas? Texas prohibits car makers from selling directly to consumers, so you have to jump through extra hoops there to avoid paying a middle-man dealer.... A few other states do as well... In those cases you have to legally "buy" the car in California, then they "deliver" the car you already own to your home state they can't actually "sell" the car to you in.

Dumb law, but car dealers pay good money buying state legislators to ensure it stays that way.

Telsa has dealers in Texas. Why are you making things up

Other States will probably do what Texas is doing.. shake head

State passes a new law that will require electric car owners to pay $200 every year.

Because I'm not, and they don't. Maybe do some research next time before incorrectly suggesting someone is wrong?

First- Tesla has zero dealerships anywhere because dealerships, legally, are franchises owned by people other than the car maker.

Second- Tesla can not legally sell cars in Texas. Because Texas law only allows legal dealerships to sell cars there, and again- Tesla has 0 of those.

This has been widely reported, and Texas is not the only state this is true of.

https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/...-to-texans

https://texasview.org/why-you-can...-in-texas/

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/t...ca.275121/

Tesla has "showrooms" in Texas- where they can not legally sell you a car but you can go look at them- and they have service centers where they can repair, but again, not legally sell, you a car.

Thus all new Teslas being sold to Texas residents must be, legally, "sold" in another state- California typically.

In a couple of states Tesla has opened stores on Native American reservations to side-step this ancient dealer-only laws but Texas is not yet one of them.

They have to... roads are paid for with gasoline taxes. EVs don't pay gas tax, so they have to get $ for roads from EVs somehow- this is the simplest way.

In most states, Texas included, the amount they end up taxing is still less than the total an ICE driver spends in gas taxes annually though so still net savings right now.

Even better if you qualify $2000 CA tax rebate
Is there only 1 in California? Is the 7500 and 2000 the same rebate based on income? I heard there's a seperate rebate just for So Cal.

Is the QC any improved? I'm planning to take Mach E delivery then this news appears lol. It's too sweet for $30k versus MachE at $42k after rebates (base)
The poor quality control is mostly a myth. I just bought my third Tesla yesterday. A performance model three. I had a 2015 model S and a 2019 long range all-wheel-drive model three. Not a single issue with either of them. None. Over 130,000 miles on both vehicles and not a single issue ever. Only tires and windshield wiper fluid and wiper blades and air cabin filter. That's all I ever did. Didn't spend a penny on maintenance. The one I got yesterday is absolutely flawless. Not a single problem. The media mostly is run by a certain group of people who get paid by oil companies. Every single Tesla Problem is shouted on the rooftops by oil lovers. Don't believe the hype. And try driving a Ford mustang marquee and then drive the model Y. Not even close in terms of performance or value and technology. Tesla is way out in front of everyone else. This cargoes 3.1 seconds to 60, and drives itself. I paid $44,000 after my rebate in February. Insane. Best deal on the planet.

The hatch on the Mach E puts it more as a Model Y competitor.
You should drive them to help you with your choice. Model 3 AWD has fun handling and performance, ime. Drive the different models to see what matters to you.
My M3 has suspension that communicates road surface. I thought this would be a drawback. The seat is so good the surface doesn't become annoying.

Teins adjustable shocks can change ride for $600.

If your income is 157k as a single filer then no you cannot get the credit. 157k would qualify if that was your total income as head of household or as a married couple.

The QC issues concerning things like panel gaps and such are definitely real but are probably blown out of proportion and wouldn't stop me from placing an order. Vehicles coming out of Shanghai are seeing virtually none of these QC issues compared to one's coming out of Fremont and Austin.

Thanks yeah I am single filer. How foolish is this policy. Someone in Midwest with 150K salary is rich than someone in California.

I was getting ready to buy one when I checked my insurance rates. If I were to buy the Tesla my insurance premiums would go up 700.00 year.

I dont put enough miles on my car here in Florida to justify paying an extra 700.00 per year.

And I checked rates with a few insurance companies.

No thanks for now.

I need Tesla insurance down here in Florida
