They're really not using actual data on actual sales and inventory.

All the "OMG INVENTORY IS HIGH" stories just ain't so.

They're misrepresenting one or two (or sometimes both) of these facts:

1) Last year inventory was near 0 so there was a backlog. So even a tiny inventory bump this year is a "massively high" inventory in comparison.

2) Production has scaled a lot. So an inventory amount that would've been 3 months of production in 2017 is now 3 days of production for the same # of inventory cars.

There won't be any by then. There's barely any now.

https://tesladata.mattjung.net/new-model-3-data/

Model 3 total inventory right now in the US shows as about 300 cars. For the entire country.

So you're looking at roughly 1 day of spare inventory based on production rates.

When they switch over to a new model, production will need to be down for at least a few days to a week to switch over (possibly longer- the S/X refresh the line was down for months- though nobody expects anything like that for the 3 refresh). Whatever tiny # of inventory is in stock the day they stop making the old one will be gone before the new ones are ready.
So what you're saying is Tesla can't even keep up with production so why buy a car from there? Imagine trying to get something fixed/needing parts!

Oh and hey Knightshade, you still haven't answered my question about your ties to Tesla. Soon I'll stop being able to keep track of how many times you've ignored me. In any EV thread really. I figured I'd throw in something at the start you might find hard to ignore so here goes nothing (again).

Did anyone do a trade-in for their 3? My car have trade in pending status. I'm expect to pick up my 3 tomorrow.

Went to pick up my M3 today. There was an issue with driver side window and seal. I could put my finger inside while the door was closed and window was up. Something to do with the seal. Refused delivery, waiting for another one. Be sure to do proper inspection at pick up.

You will never get a response asking that question. There is probably a non-disclosure involved.

if we normally get a tax refund most years, is the $7500 credit about useless to us?

Went for a test drive the other day. The car felt like it was built by Ikea. Plastic everything. Plastic seats. No thanks.
I disagree. Ikea is all particle/compressed wood. Quite different than plastic.
