You forgot to mention the $1390 destination fee, $425 for wall connector, $230 for mobile charger, $250 non-refundable order fee.

Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

Seeing some Model 3's for 36k right now in my area (socal), prices actually seem a bit erratic, exact same model/trims are ranging from 36-38k. Wonder if maybe the lower priced ones are demo models and the website just isn't displaying that for some reason? Or maybe we're finally seeing more price drops?
On twitter there's a post from Sawyer Merritt about a price drop.

Can I pick up from the Tesla Fremont Factory directly to avoid the shipping and handling charges?

No, regardless of where you pick it up you have to pay the same delivery fee which can't be removed. (This is a federal law thing, designed to ensure people on opposite ends of the country pay the same amount).

I am seeing the same in Dallas area, but Houston and Austin still have inventory discounts.
I ordered one from NJ just few mins ago so I can get the discount ! Pa discount is ready gone ! We can keep waiting for ever ! Be honest the current auto pilot is good for me . If it's getting more advanced autopilot I think it might have higher chance to get into big trouble! You still need to dive yourself !

Placed an order an hour ago in Dallas. Most of the discounts are for cars with 19" sport wheels. Ordered an MSM RWD with 19" sport wheels for $37980 - $500 referral discount. Discounts are all over the place now, without any consistency.

If you are in PA, can you order from NJ? Don't you have to use your registration ZIP code?

Is it possible to change pick up location after order placed? How much we can delay the pick up if not able to do it immediately?

I went through this whole process last week. They give you a choice of 2 days to pick it up. If you don't, they will unmatch you from that car. They'll give you a 14-day hold. When you're ready to get a new car, you can release the hold. The catch is that any inventory discount you had will be lost when they match you with a new car.

At that point, the best thing you can do is to go to a store and talk to a rep. You can place a new order and they can apply the order fee you already paid towards this new order.

Very strange. Not sure if it's a glitch, but it seems like the prices on the same exact car/features (i.e. cheapest option M3 in Midnight Silver) have different inventory discounts going up in $400 increments. I had one in my "cart" for $36,220, but someone snagged it. Ended up placing an order for the one priced at $36,620. I plan on canceling my original order and eating the $250 deposit. I was able to take advantage of the referral link from my sister as well this time so that negates the loss. Hope this goes through. I didn't even need a car right now, but now my son gets to go back up to school for his final semester with my old car.

I doubt the Highland Model 3 will be priced this competitively. Thank you SD!

I purchased on 7/3 at $39,440 and was able to switch into the same model/trim at $37,570 after speaking with Tesla rep last night ahead of 7/9 delivery date. Stated prices before destination fee and taxes.

Got purchase adjustment with refund due in about 4-6 wks.

Mine states as new with 15 miles on the odometer after reviewing DMV registration this morning.

Good luck !

What's funny here is you've spent years telling us how FSD was fake and wasn't ever going to self drive... and now you're trying to scare people into not buying existing cars because they... might miss out on newer FSD features and abilities.

ApplauseApplauseApplauseApplauseApplauseApplause

Yes, I have been saying for years what you and Elon call FULL SELF DRIVING is FAKE!

It is vaporware, but people like you have drank the Kool-aid and believe Elon, and since misery loves company, you try to convince everyone they too need to piss away money on vaporware.

So if Elon has been trading on vapor, and you are buying a Tesla, why would you limit your availability to trade on the same lie?

HW4 is already out in other vehicles and it is only a matter of time before the parts bins are empty for the model 3s so people are buying old tech here and will be sorry, like I said you are buyig a "tech car" with old tech.

is the fed credit of 7.5k per vehicle or per person? If I buy 2 teslas this year, will get a credit of 15k or 7.5k only? Buying the second one in the name of spouse makes any difference if the tax filling status is married filling jointly. I can't use married filling separately as spouse does not have income and will not be able to claim the credit even if files separately.

You can get as many $7500 credits as you have tax liability to offset.

No difference which of your names it's in, you're filing a joint return.

No difference for fed tax credit. But check the state incentives. May be only one per person. Soo different buyer may make sense to receive multiple state refunds.
