The Harbor Freight Parking Lot sale ad this week [harborfreight.com] is one of the best HFT ads I've seen in recent memory. I've been eyeing this surface conditioning tool for some time - almost bought it at $109, but glad I waited. I believe this is the lowest it's ever gone, and I doubt it will go any lower (at least for non-ITC members). Watch one of the YouTube videos on this thing - it's pretty amazing. Personally, I think this price is a steal, esp since it comes with 3 finishing drums that sell for $15 a piece, on their own. That makes the tool only $55 once you factor the value of the included drums.

I wanted one until I picked it up, heavy. Will stick with angular grinder with strip discs.

You might be on to something...

It is a big tool, I agree. It's also 9 amps. Just watch a few of the videos; it's amazing what these things can do when it comes to paint stripping.

For metal preparation for welding, this seems like a game changer but the price and cost of consumables make me likely to stick with a flap disc
