The spec says this comes with Audessey MultiEQ, but under the Key Technologies section on the website it talks about "harnessing the power of MultiEQ XT32", and in the info sheet pdf, it says MultiEQ XT32 "software" comes with this receiver.
Is it saying that XT32 is available via the audessey software via Windows OS?
My guess would be since you are able to add the Editor App and you need the app for MultEQ-X.
This would open up being able to use X on this receiver.
Keep in mind X has a pretty good learning curve. I would suggest giving the app a try 1st.
I bought my Onkyo specifically because it does have a DAC for the zone 2 output. I even verified with Onkyo support to be sure before I bought it. I did have to return the first one because Costco dropped the price a week after I bought it and wouldn't give me an adjustment. My TX-NR6050 sends digital signals out the analog Zone 2 to my outdoor speaker amps just fine. I stream music from an Echo link via optical connection, from the Sirius/XM app from a Google Chromecast with Google TV via HDMI, as well as any content from the TV itself. I have not had any issue with it.
I don't use Atmos, so I can't speak to that.
Recently the Pio 305 got down to around $600, Onkyo 7100 was $800 & Denon 3800 for $870!
They go quickly so you have to be quick and a little lucky.
Have thought of getting it repaired, but guessing taking it to a local repair shop I'd be out what, $100-150, for diagnosis and repair?
Big fan of repairing items, and guessing this is going to be better (significantly?) than what I have, but don't keep up with specs and inputs these days. How much better is this than a repaired AVR-1912?

I did look at the Yamaha V6A. I like how they have zone 2 preouts. And 9ch speaker connections but only 7 can be active at once. A lot more flexibility. Wish their HDMI wasn't gimped.

Take for instance the 700, it's preouts are specifically for the L/R fronts and not assignable. They also do not fully bypass the internal amps, they run in conjunction.
As you move up the ladder they may have more preouts, assignable and even some are starting to bypass by turning off the internal amps while using the preouts.
