Product Description: | The most immersive Bose soundbar. For all your content.
For a soundbar to come closer to a theater-like experience, it has to do more than just point sound in different directions. The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 with Dolby Atmos goes well beyond that, adding a layer of realism no other soundbar can duplicate. Exclusive Bose technologies elevate all content by separating instruments, dialogue, and effects, and placing them in discrete parts of a room - far left, far right, overhead - for immersion like you've never felt.
Immersive Sound Experience
Tons of tech, beautifully wrapped.
For all its stunning looks, the technology inside this premium Dolby Atmos soundbar is what's truly astonishing. Nine speakers are precisely arranged in the cabinet - including two new upward firing dipole transducers. This works in tandem with proprietary PhaseGuide technology to beam multi-directional sound to distinct areas in your room, giving you the feeling that what you hear is coming from places where there are no physical speakers.
Supports Dolby Atmos
Theater-like sound. At home.
What exactly is Dolby Atmos? It's a technology that allows artists and content creators to place each voice, instrument, and sound in its own space, creating an unparalleled spatial experience with realistic overhead effects. You're in the middle of all of it, right in your living room, enjoying the peak of home entertainment.
When there's no Dolby Atmos content, like stereo or 5.1, Bose TrueSpace technology takes over for the vertical experience, remixing signals to add "height" without adding a ceiling speaker, creating the same immersive sound experience.

To those asking how it compares to SONOS - most reviewers will favor the SONOS, but really it's splitting hairs. Check Andrew Robinson's video on the 900 for a very thorough review. If I recall correctly, he seemed to indicate that the Atmos effects out of the 900 were somewhat subdued.

Except Sonos continues to support their product line WAY longer than Bose.

I do find it frustrating that they've stonewalled Android users with their TruePlay room correction feature by making it iOS dependent, but mostly that's a small gripe. I think for most people it's probably 50/50 split between both this and the Arc. If people listen to music a lot, the Arc 5.1.2 will be a much better investment from ease of streaming, but if just using connected to a TV for general use and movie watching, there's probably not a ton of difference between the two products.

Also, it is true because it connects to a lot of different brands of tv so some sets may require some work so you may want to check your HDMI setting option.
Talking about streaming music, I never had any issues with my IOS device and now it supports Chrome case as well which I never tried.
I have never tried SONOS as well so can't really compare the audio quality between the two, but honestly, I never felt a need for it too. I am quite happy with Bose.
Their support is really nice, they are still supporting their 650-line home theater set up which is like 10 years ago.

But for iPhone users, the integration is so much nicer with Sonos (e.g. playing the same music in multiple rooms, use Trueplay with your phone whereas Bose ADAPTiQ makes you wear some wired headset). Also the Sonos setup is more flexible: you can use the Sub in another room or the ones independently (can't say the same for Bose surround 700s).
With Era 300 as rears, I imagine the Sonos setup blows Bose out of the water. Though it's also considerably more expensive.
